About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Stephen Davis

We took early retirement in the UK to live a more peaceful and rural lifestyle in Brittany. Now we have a lovely small farm with about 30 sheep, some friendly goats and free range chickens. Over the past couple of years we have been busier than ever developing the farm, learning shepherding skills and integrating into French life. We love it here and through our small holiday business enjoy the pleasure of sharing it with others.

Year property purchased 2014
Why this location? Brittany reminds me of the peace and tranquility of growing up in rural England in the sixties. There is hardly any traffic, occasionally you may have to slow up behind a tractor or stop for a herd of cows but there is no great rush to get anywhere. The people have time to pass the time of day with you and are usually very polite. If you are willing to try and speak some French they always do there best to try to understand you and when you get stuck often reply in English. Our French neighbours are lovely, when we are passing we are often invited in for coffee and cakes or crepes in the evenings. We provide the dairy farm next door with eggs and they give us fresh milk in return. Their grand children love to come to the farm to see our lambs and feed stale bread to the goats and chickens. It just seems that this is how life should be and this is the perfect place to wind down and live it.
Unique benefits of property We have a lovely Cottage completely renovated to a very high standard. It is located on our small farm so guests can relax, watch the sheep with their lambs, feed the chickens and goats or even help collect our fresh free range eggs (under guidance). They are really tasty and make great breakfasts for our guests! Lambing season on the farm is usually between April and June, its a joy to see our new lambs arriving and a very exciting time of year.

Despite being situated in the heart of the country side there is still plenty to do and see within a short drive. Located in central Brittany it a great base for exploring everything Brittany has to offer. The beautiful and unspoilt north, south and west coasts are within easy reach. There are also wide variety of things to do in the surrounding area to entertain both children and adults.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Brittany Farm Cottage and would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to family and friends. The property is new, well maintained, clean, welcoming and spacious and the facilities offer ample scope for some self-catering. It was a pleasure to meet the owners, Sue and Steve, who gave us much helpful advice about places to visit and where to eat. Everything about the cottage was positive and we plan to return again next year.

The gite was as described. It was very tastefully fitted out and had everything we needed. We found the gite to be excellent in every way. The location meant that we could travel to places we wanted to see within 1hr 15min. It is also a very peaceful and relaxing place to be. Both Steve and Sue are great hosts, easy to talk to, helpful and very good company. They made us both feel very welcome, more like friends than paying guests. Their beautiful little Border Collie added to our feeling of welcome as she would seek us out at any opportunity and pour affection upon us. Without a doubt, a great place to be and we thoroughly recommend the gite and Steve and Sue as hosts.
