About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Helen Ruffet

I moved to Brittany 26 years ago. I love walking, gardening and sailing with friends. Eating great food (sometimes cooking it) and drinking good wine as well as reading and cinema going. Many films are shown in our local cinemas in English, with french subtitles of course! We have three children, they have all left home to live student lives, only returning to refuel occasionally. This leaves me with time to walk Elmo, my border terrier, play in our local theatre group and take care of Tamaris.

Year property purchased 2015
Why this location? I love living in Lancieux, Tamaris is just outside the town in a quiet little road which leads directly to the the coastal footpath. There is so much to see and do in and around Lancieux, its the perfect base for a holiday with its beautiful beaches, fantastic walks, golf course and a multitude of water sport activities. The port of St Malo is only a 20 minute drive away and the medieval town of Dinan is just as close.
Unique benefits of property Tamaris is a traditional stone cottage at the end of a "longere" it has a terrace to the south, west and north as well as a large private garden this guarantees a sunny spot to sit at any time of the day!
The cottage has just been completely renovated to a very high standard. The ground floor has a double sided woodburning stove between the kitchen/diner and living room area giving the cottage a light modern almost open plan feel - great for families or groups of friends.
The cottage has a separate laundry room with toilet and sink on the ground floor with a direct access to the courtyard. Here you will find an upright freezer, plenty of space for ice creams as well as ice cubes and emergency pizzas for the kids! It also has a small lockable garage perfect for beach equipment, bikes, golf clubs or even surf boards!
All the bedrooms are south facing and the bathroom is a family friendly size.
I live nearby if you should need any help or guidance during your stay.

The Owner Recommends

British Film festival

Dinard hosts the British Film Festival each year. This not to be missed event will take place on the 28th September until the 2nd October 2016. The town is buzzing with cinema stars. Several cinema sites around the town centre show the films in the competition as well as many preview showings. In between shows enjoy a meal in one of Dinards many restaurants or simply a stroll along the beach.

This medieval town is situated up the Rance Estuary. A cobbled street, lined with art and craft shops, leads up from the picturesque port to the castle and town centre.

Horse Racing

Every year, the main beach of Lancieux is transformed into a hippodrome. This years racing will take place on the 21st August. Why not time your stay to enjoy this unforgettable spectacle as well as maybe place a few bets!

Local Markets

Every day of the week in a nearby town you will be able to find all the local produce and specialities of the region.

Cobac Parc. An adventure water parc at Lanhelin La Bourbonsais. A castle and zoo at Pleugueneuc. The Pirates Labyrinthe at St Malo with inflatable structures and giant games and puzzles for all the family.

Saint Malo

A walk around the ramparts of this medieval town offers a spectacular view of the bay, the barrage and nearby town of Dinard. Why not cross the Rance estuary from Dinard by boat for a day of sightseeing and shopping.

The coastal path stretches all along the beautiful coastline, from castles across sandy beaches to the polders of Lancieux as well as the Fremur estuary and on to St Lunaire and Saint Briac. Hours of beautiful walks too numerous to mention. Not forgetting the Rance estuary with its beaches and ports.

We loved our holiday in Tamaris. Beautifully restored old house, and the decor throughout is gorgeous. The property was exceptionally clean and well maintained Everything you may need is there in the house. 'The location was also good for sight seeing. This property is perfect for families and couples. I would definitely recommend this property to family and friends.

We had an excellent week in this well appointed property. The area is full of interest for all ages with beaches and places of historical and cultural interest nearby. The property is perfectly suited to couples or families and the facilities lack nothing - apart from a hair dryer for those who need one!! The garden is perfect for children of all ages and there are seating areas at all sides of the property to take full advantage of the sun. Helen, the owner, was extremely helpful and welcoming.
The local boulangeries at Lancieux or Ploubalay are a short car ride away and can be recommended highly. The supermarkets, Casino and Carrefour Market, provide most items and are five minutes away in Ploubalay. We can recommend the restaurant, 'La Plage', in Lancieux, which has a good menu, especially for lovers of fish, and is very popular with locals and tourists so booking is essential at weekends and in the high season.
St Malo, Dinan and Dinard are all more than worthy of a visit and are within easy reach whilst the magnificent Mont St Michel is less than an hour away. Fort La Latte and the many headlands with lighthouses should not be missed.
This is an excellent area to stay in and doesn't require long journeys in France to the ferry ports and attractions of this wonderful coastline.
