Ty KENA is a traditional Breton Longere that has been converted into 3 traditional, self contained 2 bedroomed open plan gites. Set in its own private grounds of almost two acres, within the small peaceful farming hamlet of Lemoire, surrounded by woods and fields, this is the ideal base to explore all that Brittany has to offer.
For families with children, beautiful sandy beaches with bars, restaurants and water sports are within a 10 minute drive at the Lac du Guerledan, or the North Coast, a 45 minute drive and the South Coast, around an hour.
Nearby are many safe cycle and walking tracks, and the towpath of the Nantes/Brest canal offers flat safe cycling and walking for families with small children.
Brittany has many prehistoric sites, medieval towns and villages, ancient ruins and chateaux to explore, as well as 20th Century historical places of interest and museums, not to mention the local markets, festivals, and restaurants to discover.
After a busy day, Ty KENA is the ideal location to chill, whether your ideal is to find a sheltered spot in the garden to relax and read a book, or sunbathing on the paddock. If you prefer something more energetic, badminton and supervised archery is available, whilst the children can play to their hearts content on the enclosed paddock.
Supermarkets with 24 hour fuel, and 24 hour banking are available in Uzel and Mur de Bretagne, both approx 8km from Ty KENA.
The port of Roscoff is only a 1 hr 45 mins drive away, and St Malo is 1 hr 30 mins.
We operate a no smoking indoor policy.
The fully equipped kitchen can cater for up to 6 adults. It has an electric oven/hob, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, washing machine, iron with ironing board and a fridge-freezer. In addition to a 6 seater dining table there is a highchair available.
The spacious and comfortable oak beamed living area with its large sofa bed, has UK and French satellite tv, radio/cd player and has a traditional wood burning fire (an initial supply of wood is provided).
There is a bright and airy double bedroom (travelcot available), and a twin bedroom with 2 full size single beds. Both rooms have blackout blinds, and plenty of hanging space/storage.
There is a shower room with wc and basin.
The gite is heated by a woodburner in the living room, with the hot air being piped throughout the first floor (first basket of wood supplied free). In addition there is an electric heater in the shower room.
UK satellite tv, books, cd/radio boardgames.
The gite has its own south facing private patio with bbq and seating that overlooks an ornamental garden with shaded sitting areas and a boules court.
Also at Ty KENA is a shared large paddock and orchard with picnic tables, children's play area, trampoline, spa pool (summer only), sound system, badminton and supervised archery available on request.
There is a large hanger (open barn) that guests can use as a covered bbq area in inclement weather, with a pool table and table tennis.
There is free covered parking on-site.
Ideal for couples or families, it is safe and secure for children of all ages. Due to the gravelled driveway and stairs to the first floor facilities, Ty KENA is deemed unsuitable for disabled access.
There are a number of adult and child bikes available for guest use.
Free wi-fi is available.
Linen and towels are included, however you should bring your own beach towels.
A supplement of £2 per night is required for the use of the sofa bed by additional guests.
A refundable cash deposit of 50 Euros is payable on arrival to cover the cost of any damages or excessive cleaning that may be required.
Ty KENA was our holiday home, however in March 2016 we took early retirement and decided to move full time to France. This has proved to be one of the best decisions that we have ever made, it removed us from the Rat Race that is the UK 2016, and transported us to an age gone by that was the UK 1966, surrounded by beautiful Breton Countryside and neighbours who are neighbours and friends who are friends,

The Auberge de Guerledan is our favourite local restaurant, it is located in Caurel about 8km from Ty KENA. It is French owned, and has fluent English speaking staff. Well worth a visit!!!

8 km from Ty KENA is Lac de Gurledan with its numerous beaches, bars, restaurants and cafes. It also has a variety of water-sports providers with kayaks, pedalos, paddle boards all available for hire as well as water skiing for the more adventurous.
We can loan you adults and child's bikes allowing you to explore the local area on the purpose made VTT (Velo Toutes Terrain) routes.
There are numerous free Music Festivals or "Fest Noz" that take place throughout the year in the towns and villages of Brittany. We will be able to provide you with details of any taking place locally during your stay once they have been advertised.
The historic Abbey de Bon Repos situated at the western end of Lac de Geurledan is 15km from Ty KENA.
Binic is a beautiful old fishing village with a huge sandy beach and enough shops to keep anyone busy. It is on the north coast of Brittany to the west of Saint Brieuc, and can be reached in 40 minutes from Ty KENA,
Brittany is criss crossed with ancient stone circles, with the nearest to Ty KENA being only 4km away, adjacent to the Chaple Notre Dame de Lorette.
Ty KENA is surrounded by Breton history, from ancient stone-age sites such as the "Menhir" ( a single standing stone) 1.5km away, to the medieval towns of Loudeac and Pontivy under 30 minutes away, as well as the modern with the WW2 U-Boat pens at L'Orient just over an hour distant.
