We purchased Trelevern villa in order to allow us to have a holiday home in Brittany close to the sea. It was ideal as it allowed all our family to holiday together and the pool/nearby beach and games room meant that there was something for everyone.
|Year property purchased||2000|
|Why this location?||We chose this location as it was central to all the tourist attractions in Cotes d'Armor and was close to the beach.|
|Unique benefits of property||The benefits of this property is that it has something for everyone.|
Trelevern village is very pretty and has the facilities you require to avoid having to drive. A year around bar and minimarket, restaurant, lovely bakers and patisserie and even a butchers shop. A short drive away at the market town of Lannion you have all the features of a main town including hypermarkets but also a historic centre with tiny shops, bars and bistros. Lannion also has perhaps the best street markets in the entire area.
Activities: In addition to the obvious attraction of the superb local beach the villa is an ideal base for touring the North coast of Brittany by car, walking the coastal path and is also a fantastic location for bird watchers. Brent Geese, Little Egret, Stone Chat, Rock Pipit, Black Cap, Green Woodpecker and many other species all too rare in the UK are all seen in the local area.
There are also many attractions to explore in Brittany's Cotes d'Armor region.. If you want country or coastal walks, to visit glorious chateaux with formal gardens or amble around picturesque market towns, Cotes D'Armor has it all. You can take numerous boat trips to explore islands such as Isle of Brehat or the Sept Isles which is great for wildlife enthusiasts. A delightful steam train journey is also available from Paimpol to Pontrieux. The area is also ideal if you fancy a spot of fishing, sailing, surfing, golfing, cycling or horse riding. For a great family day out there is Armoriparc a small water park just 25 minutes drive away with indoor/outdoor pools, boating lakes and other amusements activities.
The fabulous Oceanopolis aquarium at Brest is also sure to please.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a well appointed property, set in a beautiful part of the world.
Our only complaint was that our holiday was not long enough! - I guess that we will return!
Thank you - Thomas Scanes.
Thank you Thomas for your very kind review. We would love to have you back and hope to see you again sometime in the future.
The villa is well equipped and was ideal for our party of 9 compromising grandparents, parents and grandchildren. The pool was used virtually every day by the grandchildren (aged 2 and 4) and their parents. The table tennis was also used daily by all the grown ups. The sea is just a short walk down the hill and has a nice sandy beach as well as some interesting rocks. When the tide is out there is an impressive expanse of sand and rock outcrops. The Bar Tabac in Trélévern sells draft lager if you need a swift half and the local shop next door stocks most of the essentials. The Boulangerie bakes fresh bread every day and always has a good supply of baguettes, croissants and pain au chocolate. Almost everyone there is French so don’t expect to bump into your neighbours during your stay.
Thanks Peter for your review. We are so pleased that you and your extended family had such a lovely holiday.
Our holiday at Trelevern Villa proved disappointing in many ways. We certainly would not return and we believe that a number of our concerns need to be brought to the attention of the owners/organisers.
The villa has five bedrooms and we are a retired couple. When asked which bedrooms we required we asked for two bedrooms to be prepared. Despite this we were not offered any reduction in cost which we have received with other owners.
The description of the villa did not live up to our expectations when we arrived. The heated indoor swimming pool proved to be a child`s plunge pool. No-one over the age of 5 could have used it as a swimming pool. This was very disappointing for my wife who likes to swim every day. The hot tub was basic and one of the jets did not work The master bedroom with four poster bed and ensuite facilities was actually a rickety cheap four poster bed with a very small combined shower/toilet.
The whole villa was in need of TLC. A lace curtain had been sellotaped to keep it in position. The dishwasher would not work and there were no instructions. The main tv was extremely dated and in satellite mode, the picture did not fit the screen. Cupboard doors had not been fitted and the whole impression was a DIY job that was not yet finished.
Finally we were given a contact who was the manager for the property living close by. We never actually met him and our attempts to contact him about some of the issues outlined above were met with an answer phone message.
We are very disappointed in receiving this review as it contradicts all other reviews received on other advertising sites. We have a 4.6/5 rating on Homeaway (22 reviews), 4.5/5 rating on Tripadvisor (6 reviews) and 2 excellent reviews on AirBnB.
In terms of the points raised, when the couple booked they stated ‘ your villa has far more rooms than we need, but we are attracted by its facilities/position’. The villa is a large property, in a fabulous position and the description/photos are accurate. The client booked without any request for a reduction in cost. The photo of the pool on the site clearly depicts its size and the hot tub is not basic. No one else has had a problem with any of the beds or the condition of the property. The lace curtain was not held up by sellotape but a self adhesive rod which had detached itself. The dishwasher does work and consists of an on/off button and four picture/temperature descriptive buttons which makes operation very simple. All wardrobes/kitchen cupboards have doors. There are two TV’s at the property, one new flat screen and the other although older both function perfectly. The only contact made by the client was a message left on our land line answer machine on the day of departure with regard to locking up the property. No other communications were received on either landline or mobile phone during their stay. We always do our utmost to resolve problems quickly. This review is unfair and not a true representation of the villa.
