About this property

Beautifully Renovated Stone Cottage, circa 1500. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

This stone cottage, built circa1500, has been sympathetically renovated. A beautifully decorated and superbly equipped family home with a large garden surrounded by fields. The cottage is situated in a peaceful part of the lovely region of Brittany, in the small hamlet of La Musse.

There are 2 double bedrooms with super king size beds, each having en suite facilities. A single bed can be put in one of the bedrooms thereby comfortably accommodating 5 people.

The nearest village of Laurenan is just over 1km from the property. Here there is a boulangerie for the all important French bread and pastries! Also in the village is a bar and restaurant. A little further away, 10 minutes drive, is the town of Plemet with 3 restaurants, bars and a supermarket. Loudeac, 20km from the property, is a larger commercial centre and all facilities can be found here including shops and restaurants.

The northern coast of Brittany, including the lovely beaches at Morieux, Binic and Pleneuf-val-Andre are both less than 1 hours drive from La Musse.

The stunning property is entered by large french windows giving an immediate feeling of light and space. These windows can all fold back so that the garden and kitchen merge into one beautiful eating/seating space! The beautiful kitchen has views directly towards the garden. Through the kitchen area is the “cosy” sitting room. The focal point of this room is the woodburner which, in conjunction with full central heating, makes the property suitable for letting all year round.

The tv, with UK channels, is projected directly on to a large screen when required which means when not viewing, it is completely unobtrusive. Wi-fi is available throughout the property.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. Please check at time of booking. A Pet Fee of £10 per week is applied.

A 10% discount for couples (under occupancy offer) is applied to all reservations

The Owner Recommends

Lake Landrouet

On the outskirts of Merdrignac, just 11 kms from the cottage, is Lac de Landrouet. This lovely lake comes alive in the summer months with music festivals, car boot sales and also water sports. It is also very popular with fishermen. In the winter it is lovely for a leisurely stroll.

Mont St Michel

The world famous UNESCO Heritage Site at Mont St Michel is one of the most visited attractions in France. It is about 1 hour 20 minutes drive away. It is on an island separated from the mainland by a causeway. Always popular.

Beaches of Northern Brittany

The north coast of Brittany is within easy distance. The nearest beach is the beautiful Plage de Morieux. Others worth visiting include Pleneuf-val-Andre, Erquy and St.Cast le Guildo.
Plenty of seafood restaurants in these resorts serving mussels and oysters!

Well worth a visit is Josselin with its stunning medieval chateau. Guided tours in English are available during the summer. There is also a doll museum.
The Saturday market is very popular with plenty of local produce for sale.
The cobbled streets have an abundance of eating places and cafes.
Also in the town is the beautiful park, Le Bois d'Amour.

Moncontour, another French "petite cite de caractere", is also worth a visit with its cobbled streets and chateau high above the town.

Rennes can be reached in about one hour. It is the capital of Brittany. There are numerous shops and eating places centred around the lovely cobbled squares.
Also very good for a bit of retail therapy!

Forest of Broceliande and the Golden Tree

The Forest of Broceliande and the town of Paimpont are about 40k from the property. This area offers lovely walking and a fascinating insight into the legends of King Arthur. The Bretons claim this area as the origin of the famous Knights of the Round Table!
