About this property

A Great Base for Chilling Out, Sports and Culture.. This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

The walk in tour of our house begins with the photos of the outside: The pretty renovated south facing cottage style house situated on a quiet road just outside Jugon Les Lacs has a large mature garden that offers complete privacy and a sun trap for relaxation. The front gates open up into a large gravelled area that provides ample parking and looks out across a mature lawn and flower garden that includes, bbq and sunbathing areas, overlooked by the house. The house is a typical French stone cottage with beamed low ceilings downstairs renovated to provide a light airy space complemented by modern comfortable furnishings with all the conveniences of a permanent home which is what it is most of the year. Check out the photos here or the website for more details, and give us a call if you have questions.

Spring arrives early and summer drags out to October. For us we love a mixture of chilling out at home in the garden, and exploring the region. If you choose to stay we hope you will have a great time and good memories.

Kitchen and dining

The conservatory overlooks the back garden and leads into a modern spacious kitchen with frenchdoors to the dining room and lounge. The kitchen is equipped with oven, hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, plus ample equipment for keen cooks as you might expect in a permanent home.

The light and airy lounge dining room occupies the rest of the ground floor and has a dining table for 6. There are other dining facilities in the conservatory and in the garden.

Living rooms

The house has two main living room areas, the lounge which has English and French tv and the large conservatory with sofas for relaxing.

(Satellite UK Freesat tv/radio, plus French tv and dvd player).

All the bedrooms are upstairs and accessed off a large mezzanine room. There are 2 double bedrooms facing down the garden, and a third bedroom with 2 single beds to give you comfortable sleep. A change of bed linen and towels are included for each week for your stay. Take a look at the pictures for more detail.

Just off the lounge dining room is the downstairs cloakroom with toilet and washbasin, and upstairs is the main bathroom with bath shower and toilet.

Electricity and wood for heating is not included in the rental price. Summer temperatures in the garden are typically in the high twenties to low thirties. Inside in common with most stone houses the house stays a cool 17-22 degrees.

The house and large private garden, it's great if you just want to chill, but it is also only 20-30 min away from a host of activities. Just down the hill to the village, there is a market, restaurants, a water park, cycling, fishing, walking, boating, tennis and more. Drive 20-30 minutes and you get to many uncrowded beaches and golf courses, beautiful safe clear seawater ideal for swimming, snorkeling, boating, fishing, and a cost path that accommodates all abilities and runs all the way along the coast. You can easily rent the equipment and get tuition for all these activities and more. Inland there are many attractive medieval market towns and villages to see and the vibrant beautiful regional capital of Rennes is easy to reach. Visit the house website at and take a look at the directory of local activities to get a better idea, and give us a call if there is something you would like to do that you've not seen and we will help you find it.

Garden and outside

Situated on the south side of the house, the garden is sheltered and completely secluded the nearest neighbour being about 100m away. From the photos you can see there is ample space for playing, bbq and sunbathing areas. Dining outside is nice, and sunbeds and deckchairs can be found in the garage.

Parking and garages

There is ample parking for 3-4 cars on the private gravelled drive. The double garage is lockable with space for storing your motorcycles or bicycles.

Visitor suitability

Guests need to be able bodied because in common with most 200 year old French cottages the staircase to the bedrooms and main bathroom is steep. That said our guests are mix of family groups and couples of all ages. The area itself can satisfy people looking for a wide variety of different holiday activities.

Information about any additional facilities

The house has rural performance wi-fi, which is to say you can check email, but it would not satisfy online gamers or downloading videos. However mobile phone coverage is good (3G/4G). The village has good shops, and a doctors, pharmacy etc., and Gillian the house keeper is bilingual and can help with any emergencies.

Bicycles can be hired at the Centre Nautique in the village, which also has more than 10 signed cycle and walking tracks. The same venue also offers sailing, rowing, canoes, an indoor water park, tennis courts, and fishing. For more details take a look at our directory here

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Jon Waters

After more than a decade of visiting France’s regions in the summer months, we finally took the plunge and bought this place in France. The pretty house and beautiful sunny private garden clinched it for us; it’s such a pleasant relaxing place, comfortably furnished as a permanent home from home.
