About this property

Swimming Pool And Entertainment For Kids And Adults.. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

We are still working on this advert with new photos and a video to organise, please bear with us!

This is our first year with Brittany Ferries/ Holiday France Direct and am looking forward to great success advertising with them.
Isabelle and I have been running this gite since 2003 and have received many very positive five star reviews through another well known holiday site which we have left recently. Unfortunately, the reviews cannot be shown on this site but I am sure that we will get new ones from this year. Many families have stayed numerous times so I think this is proof positive and our aim is to ensure you have a very pleasant holiday here in Jugon-Les-Lacs.

OFFICIAL "3 Star Gite", our gite has been awarded Classe 3 Etoiles by the Office du Tourisme de France.(ref no. 02204022-08416-0107) We are officially good! - Pool and entertainment for kids and adults.

Our gite has wi-fi internet access and it has a swimming pool, the pool would be for your private use, although occasionally Isabelle, myself and our girls go for a swim but we would of course respect your privacy and priority! The gite can sleep 4 and a small person! There is a mezzanine area that has two single beds that overlook the large bedroom below where there is ample space for another mattress or baby bed etc.

It is situated 15 mins from the historic town of Dinan and just a 2 minute drive from the local village, Jugon Les Lacs. There are all the usual facilities you would expect such as a boulangerie, a boucherie, a Carrefour market which is a general store/off licence, several bars and a creperie, a pizzeria and 2 good restaurants as well as a local Tourist Office.

There are many golf courses within a short "drive" (including a French Open Championship course at Val St Andre). There are several good equestrian centres which arrange lessons and treks. Wakeboarding and waterskiing nearby. A nearby karting track has proved a hit with the "big" boys last year. Recently opened is a waterskiing lake for beginners and the experienced. Freeview television is available.

There is a cd/cassette player provided so please feel free to bring your own music. Boardgames are available as an alternative to the television! For the comfort of all guests the gite itself is a no smoking area! There is a swimming pool in our enclosed landscaped garden and parents must accept responsibility for their children at all times.

JUST A FEW REVIEWS from the web site that we no longer advertise with, thankfully!!!

(Fantastic family holiday)
Don't miss out I can't praise this place enough, this was one of the best family holidays we have had. Sean and Isabelle couldn't do enough for us and made our stay a truly memorable one, we felt like friends when we left. The accommodation is to a very high standard and not a cheap holiday let. The facilities were brilliant for my boys 8 and 12: pool table, table tennis, darts, table football and the use of a set of bikes, all well maintained and looked after. The pool and surroundings were very clean. The area is beautiful and the lake enormous, fantastic for fishing or any of the other water sports they do. The boys had a fishing lesson organised at the tourist office by the lake, would recommend this, it's called catch my first fish, only ?10 each for 3 hours. My 8 year old loved the animals and Sean really involved him in feeding the goats, chicken, quails and ducks. We were lucky enough to see a batch of ducks hatch. We chose to drive from Calais which is a long way but doable, it took us just over 6 hours each way. If you are looking for a fun filled relaxed family holiday you have missed a trick if you don't give this place a chance. The icing on the cake was that Sean is an Man City fan!! Families with Young Children, Age 55+.

(A great family holiday)
Our family had a great holiday with Isabella and Sean and all the animals. The children (aged 10 and 6) really enjoyed the swimming pool and trampoline each evening after a day sightseeing, and all of the animals. Climbing a step ladder to pick fresh cherries off the cherry tree was another daily highlight. The gite was very comfortable, very well equipped, and the children loved sleeping up in the mezzanine floor. The gite is well located for touring the local area, with something different to do each day. We visited Dinan, Dinard, St Malo, the zoo at La Bourbonsais, a historic farm in a nearby village and went kayaking on the lake at Jugon. Equally, you could spend the whole day relaxing around the pool if you wished. There was a good selection of board games and tourist literature in the gite also. Isabella and Sean were great hosts, very welcoming and helpful. It was also great that we were able to stay from Friday instead of Saturday. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their holiday and would happily return. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway.

( Perfect family holiday)
We're just back from a very relaxing holiday here! The gite is great family accommodation and very well thought out by Sean and Isabelle. It has kitchen/ living room downstairs, parents bedroom/ shower room on first floor and kids bedroom on a mezzanine above this. The mezzanine has been lovingly crafted to look like a ships deck so our kids loved imagining they were sleeping on a pirate ship! Our kids (3 and 5yo) also made full use of the swimming pool and trampoline everyday (which tired them right out), played with the dogs/ cats, helped get eggs from the chickens and pinched raspberries from the garden (thanks Isabelle). The gite is well located for plenty to do. We went to Dinan, Bourbonsais Zoo, Mont St Michel, excellent beach at St Cast (twice), Fort la Latte, St Malo. Jugon-les-Lacs also has all the basic amenities and is a nice little town in itself. The icing on the cake with this gite was Sean and Isabelle. We all got a warm welcome from them on arrival, great local knowledge on places to visit, just great support all round! Thank you Sean, Isabelle and family! Hope to visit again one day!

(Our First Trip To France)
We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for our first holiday in France. Sean and Isabelle made us feel very welcome and were always there to help with any queries that arose. The gite is very well equipped - 'Home from home!'. There is plenty of local activities such as water sports and mountain bike trails. The local village has a shop, bakery, butchers, cafe and pizzeria. The extra activities at the gite such as pool and table tennis meant we were all able to do as much or as little as we would like. Visitor attractions such as beaches, castles, historic towns are all within easy reach. We would certainly consider returning. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Sean A.C.H. Bartley

Isabelle my wife is a French English teacher at a local school, I (Sean) am a kitchen cabinet maker by trade and we both look after our own gite, plus we manage 4 others at the moment.
Our children, all girls are adults now, 25, 23 and two at 18.
We love the area as there is always much to do, easy to travel further afield and it is beautiful. Jugon les Lacs has everything we like, it has bars, restaurant and it has a wonderful lake for sailing and fishing.

Year property purchased 2001
Why this location? My family and I moved to Jugon Les Lacs in 2001 because we love the area. It is one of the very beautiful villages in Brittany where the locals are friendly and welcoming especially to all visitors, and it has a lake with sailing and fishing! Our gite is perfectly situated for the local village of Jugon and also has easy access to the larger roads leading to the bigger towns and cities. You feel like you're in the country and yet it's easy to go and visit other more busy areas for big shopping! Jugon also has all the normal facilities that you are likely to need like a grocery store, Post Office, doctors, pubs, restaurants, pizza place, bakeries, butchers and banks.
Unique benefits of property We are pleased to announce Le Clairet has recently applied for and achieved a 3 star status from the French Tourism Authorities. There are many outdoor experiences to enjoy and see.
Jugon is also very easy to access from the larger towns and cities. Visit this site for more info on Jugon,

The beaches are within half an hour.

Isabelle, myself and our children love it here and hope that our gite guests leave here with many happy memories and of course a wish to return! Come and see us soon, you will love it. We treat our guests as we would hope to be treated ourselves, if they enjoy themselves and come back and see us again it proves to me that we're not doing too badly. Contact us for more info. Thanks for considering our gite for your holidays. Best Regards. Isabelle, Sean, Toni, Chloe, Holly and Constance.

The Owner Recommends

Things to see, do and where to eat

There is a local Tourist Office with much info on what to do and see both locally and further afield.

Coast/Beach: There are lots of beautiful sandy beaches to find within a 30-40 minute drive. St Jacut (rockpools) and St Cast (lots of sand!) are among our favourites. The north coast of Brittany is a very beautiful area to visit with many places of interest. There is a local Tourist Office with much info on what to do and see both locally and further afield.

New to the area:-WAKE BOARDING........ great fun for the sporty
http://www.jugonleslacs-tourisme.com/en/activite/bzh-wakepark/

For any not so nice days there is an ice skating rink and indoor bowling in St Brieuc (approx. 30 minutes drive). Bowling also in Dinan.

Dinan, a medieval town is a must for a day out with its well preserved castle, quaint streets and buildings. The famous Rue Jerzual is a very steep narrow lane down to the old port of Dinan but the way back is not for the fainthearted! (pushchairs not recommended!). There are many many good eateries in and around Dinan including "La Mere Pourcel" restaurant. I suggest a trip advisor search.

St Malo, not just a port but a beautiful town in its own right, the walled city was heavily bombed during the second world war, but has been wonderfully restored and is full of sights, good restaurants and shops. There is also a very good aquarium to visit.

Dinard market on Saturday is very large and is a 'must visit place' as is the stunning Mont St Michel, built out in the bay, this town is topped by an amazing abbey, the spires of which can be seen inland for miles (Warning: you have to pay an entrance fee when you get to the top of the steps!). The tidal ranges are world famous and it is said the incoming tide can beat a galloping horse! It's about an hours drive from the gite.

There are many places to walk and cycle locally.
Fishing, canoeing/sailing and "pedaloing" on the lake can be arranged.
