Rose cottage is a gite on the end of a longiere, or long house. It is a self contained house recently renovated to a high standard.
It is open plan downstairs with the addition of a downstairs shower and toilet. There are frenchdoors out to a patio and its own part of the garden complete with garden swings, washing line, and shed containing the bbq, and play equipment. On the patio there is a table and chairs for outside dining. The kitchen is modern and equipped with microwave, oven, hob, dishwasher and fully equipped for self catering. Also downstairs there is a dining table and chairs, three piece suite, another table with a lamp, a tv with a dvd player and a logburner for chilly evenings.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin room. There are 2 cots available for very young children too. There is 1 bathroom upstairs with a toilet, bath with a shower over and a washbasin. In a separate room there is a washing machine, clothes airier, ironing board and iron. Both bedrooms have wardrobe and drawer space.
The house has a cottage feel with beamed ceilings and white walls with exposed stone in places. It is clean and has a calm and restful feeling to it. Previous visitors have given great reviews and told us they have had a pleasant stay.
The kitchen is new with an electric oven, gas hob, fridge-freezer, microwave and dishwasher. It is fully equipped for self catering holidays. There is a dining table and chairs for 4 people inside and another set outside.
The living room is part of the open plan downstairs part of the house. The comfy three piece suite faces the logburner and tv and includes a coffee-table.
There are 2 bedrooms. One is a twin room and the other is a double. Both rooms include a chair, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. There are also 2 cots available for very young children on request. The ceilings display the A frame beams of the house and are sloping. There is a dormer window in each bedroom.
Linen and towels are provided and changed weekly for longer stays.
The bathroom upstairs is fully tiled, with a bath with shower over, a toilet and washbasin. The Velux window overlooks the rear garden and swimming pool.
The downstairs bathroom has a modern shower and toilet and is fully tiled also.
The cottage is well insulated, but there are two oil filled radiators which are very efficient at warming the house if needed, but the main form of heating comes from the logburner. Logs are available on request.
There is wi-fi available at all times at the cottage, a tv aerial for French television and a satellite dish providing British Freeview channels. There is a dvd player and some films available on dvds in the cottage.
In warm weather the solar heated swimming pool will be available for guests to use, on request.
There is a grass area to the rear of the cottage from the patio to the swimming pool wall, and also a large private garden area to the side of the cottage. There are some swings and a rotary washing line in this part of the garden. There is access to a shed space containing a bbq, some play equipment, beach equipment and a large umbrella shade and loungers for outside use.
There is ample parking in front of the cottage for guests to use.
The cottage is ideal for couples, and families alike, with or without young children. There is a stairgate at the top of the stairs, and the house is safe for young children. Although not suitable for a wheelchair we can supply a bed downstairs for someone who cannot use the stairs as there is a shower room on the ground floor, although the maximum number of adults at the cottage, ideally is 4.
I am married to Richard and we have 3 adult children, 2 living in England and 1 living nearby with her 2 children. We have 2 dogs who are real softies and love people and children. We have lived at Ruca for 10 years renovating the property and garden. We started having people come for their holidays in the last two years and had great feed back, but are always keen to improve. We are on hand to help our visitors make the most of their time whilst on holiday.

|Why this location?||We saw the potential in the longiere for a home and holiday accommodation on the edge of a rural village. We love the surrounding area for the beautiful countryside and the sandy beaches. We are in easy travelling distance from the interesting and very different towns of Dinan, Dinard, St Malo, and Lamballe.|
|Unique benefits of property||The property retains the peace and quiet of the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of tourist sites at busy holiday times and is a place to relax. You can enjoy the house and garden as your own during your stay. The night sky is amazing to see here, with also the opportunity of seeing nocturnal wildlife around the house such as hedgehogs, badgers, bats and owls for those interested. There is some play equipment for the children, a swimming pool, bbq and log pit available for family times together.|
Our favourite places near us are : Cap Frehel, a lighthouse that is open in the summer with spectacular views of the sea and coast. At night you can see the light flashing from the upstairs windows of Rose Cottage.
Fort la Latte, a castle, and later a fort, on the coast, used in films, is a beautiful and interesting place to visit especially on Fête Medieval days with jousting and bird of prey displays.
There are many things to see and do in Dinan, with its shops, cafes, park, castle walls, and medieval streets and buildings.
St Malo is a beautiful town full of history to visit too. It has lovely beaches, views, shops and museums.
