There are numerous things to do in the area and the cottage is perfectly situated for those that love lakes and watersports. There is no shortage of activities from swimming, skiing, canoeing, pedloes, fishing (not on Lac de Guerledan until 2018 as the lake was drained in 2015, the fish were re stocked which is now re-establishing itself but other numerous places locally to fish), horse riding, quad bike hire and for the less energetic, plenty of wonderful cafes and restaurants to watch these from!

The nearby Nantes-Brest canal offers miles of walking or cycling. Not far from the cottage is picturesque Bon Repos. The Abbey, situated at the side of canal is worth a visit. Every Sunday from May to October there is an artisan's market here. Also a couple of bars and a creperie. Each August, for two weeks, a spectacular "Son et Lumiere" is performed after dark. This is not to be missed!

BRITTANY REGION
Brittany offers a wealth of varied landscapes - beautiful sandy beaches, deep forests and medieval towns, easily accessible from Kerambellec's central situation.

Brittany is easily accessible from the UK via several Ferry Ports and is also served by flights from the UK to 4 French airports.

From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday.

The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants.

During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.

Why this location? Beautiful location, with stunning views a peaceful place to relax and unwind. The cottage is surround with stunning landscaped gardens and evergreen trees. There is also prehistoric stones within the garden, these would have been hewn from local rock and erected by the pre-celtic people of Brittany.

The Owner Recommends

Bon Repos

At the western end of Lac de Guerledan overlooking the Nantes-Brest canal, the Abbaye de Bon Repos is a must for lovers of contemporary art. The 12th-century Cistercian abbey hosts regular exhibitions, a weekly farmers market and a spectacular son et lumiere in August.

Lac Guerledan

West of Mur-deBretagne is the Lac De Guerledan, Brittany’s largest lake. Not only is this prefect place for sunning yourself or messing about on the water but the area also offers extensive trails for walking and cycling. The Quenecan forest and Abbaye de Bon Repos are not to be missed.

The Valley of the Saints

The Valley of the Saints is unique: It’s a historic site a land of legends, and the birthplace of incredible monumental sculptures all in one. A feudal moat, a 16th-century chapel and giant statues of Breton saints are found here in the undulating Poher landscape.

Concarneau

As well as being France’s third most important fishing port, Concarneau has other assets that make it a very popular summer resort. The main draw is the quaint ville close (walled town) followed by some lovely sandy beaches and a lively maritime festival in August.
