Farmhouse Gites Converted to High Standard. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Kervegan Bihan is situated in the lush Brittany countryside approximately 2.5 km from Plouaret. The four gites - Farmhouse, Farm Cottage ,Coach House and Stables have been converted to a high standard, with modern, fully equipped kitchens, satellite tv, dvd and wi-fi (shared), log burning stoves or open fireplaces.

Outside, each gite has its own lawned area,bbq and patio furniture.There is a 10 metre covered, heated swimming pool, Boules pitch, netball post, and a small slide, swing and rocker for younger guests.

The sandy beaches of St Efflam and St Michel-en-Greve are 10 minutes away. The Rose Granit coast with its stunning rock formations, sandy beaches and bays is about 30 minutes away and easily reached on quiet roads. Adventure parks small zoo, aquarium, steam train, sand yachting, golf and horse riding are also in easy driving distance.

There are weekly markets in Plouaret, Lannion, Plestin-le-Greve and Morlaix offering fresh local produce and other goods.
Plouaret is on the main rail network with direct services to Paris and Brest.

The airports at Brest and Dinan have services to UK regional airports.



Kitchen and dining

The Farm House has a spacious and well equipped kitchen with a four burner gas hob, electric fan oven and extractor hood over, dishwasher, American style fridge-freezer with ice-maker, microwave and the usual range of small kitchen appliances.
There are large work surface areas for food preparation and ample cupboard space for food storage.
There is a full range crockery and cutlery for up to seven guests as well as ample cooking utensils.
A door at the rear of the kitchen leads to a secluded lawned area and bbq allowing easy and convenient al fresco dining.

Living rooms

Adjoining the kitchen is a large lounge/dining area with a large open Breton fireplace (logs available at small additional charge).
The lounge has a range of comfortable chairs and settee to accommodate all guests.There is a flat screen satellite tv (receives all BBC,ITV and free SKY channels plus other non-subscription channels and dvd player. there is free wi-fi, shared with the other gites. Also available is a selection of boardgames, jigsaw puzzles and books for that relaxing family holiday.
The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and can seat up to 8 at a large dining table. A highchair is available for small children.
The stairs to the first floor leads from the dining area. Stairgates are provided at the top and bottom of the staircase.


On the first floor are 4 bedrooms, a double with en suite bathroom, 2 twin bedded rooms and a single bedroom. All bedrooms have exposed beams and "Velux" double glazed roof windows for ample ventilation. The double bedroom has a four poster bed and an en suite bathroom. There is also a family bathroom on this floor (shower to be installed during winter 2018/19).
The whole of the upstairs area is carpeted and all rooms have adequate hanging and drawer space for clothing etc. Duvets, pillows and all bed linen is provided as are hand and bath towels for each guest.


An en suite bathroom with toilet and wash hand basin opens off the double bedroom. There is an adequate supply of hot water. An electric shaver point is provided.

Also on the first floor is a family bathroom with toilet and wash hand basin. This bathroom will be converted to a shower room in winter 2018/19


There is a large open Breton fireplace in the lounge which can be used for burning logs (log available at small additional cost or may be purchased locally). As summers in the area are usually quite hot no other room heating is required. Portable fans are available should weather become extremely hot.


The surrounding lanes which are quiet with only occasional cars and tractors are ideal for walking and cycling. Safe sandy beaches are in easy travelling distance. Larger towns of Lannion and Morlaix have a wide range of shops and weekly markets. Smaller towns, including Plouaret (Tuesday mornings) and Pleastin-les-Greves (Sunday mornings) also have regular markets.

The Rose Granit coast with its stunning rock formations is about 30 minutes drive away and easily reached. Adventure parks, a small zoo, steam train, sand yachting, golf course and horse riding are all within easy driving distance

Garden and outside

There is a 10 metre covered, heated swimming pool in the grounds.The pool is kept locked to avoid small unsupervised children wandering in.Guests are provided with a key for their personal use. The pool is heated between May and September and may be used between 8.30 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. daily.

Also in the grounds is a Boules pitch (Boules provided), a netball post ,small slide, swing and rocker for younger guests.

Each gite has its own lawned area with bbq, patio furniture and parasol. Each gite also has a rotary clothed line.

A laundry room with two washing machines and a tumble drier (2 Euro charge) is available to guests. An iron and ironing table is providing in the gite. There is a rotary clothes line specifically for guests of this gite

Parking and garages

There is more than ample parking on site. Guests are asked to use the car parking area rather than park outside their individual gite (apart from loading and unloading on arrival and departure) to minimise risks to small children on site.

Visitor suitability

This gite is ideally suited to family holidays being located in a quiet and peaceful area of rural Brittany. The grounds are flat and there are no steps except those to the entrance to the gite and laundry room.
There are 2 steps into the Farm House. The staircase has a bannister to one side and does not present any particular difficulties.
For those not wanting or able to use the bath a shower is available in the family bathroom.

There is a shared laundry room with two washing machines and a tumble drier (2 Euro charge). Each gite has its own rotary clothes line, iron and ironing table.

Why this location? Quiet, rural setting but close to town with shops and access to rail network there are direct trains to Paris and Brest. Kervegan Bihan is an easy drive to the ferry ports of Roskoff (37miles) and St Malo (90 miles), beaches, coastal walks and larger towns, markets and places of interest.
There are weekly markets in the nearby towns of Lannion (Thursdays), Plestin Le Greve (Sundays) and Morlaix.
The gites are close to the national rail network, the road network is excellent putting major towns and cities in easy reach. There are regional airports at Brest, Rennes and Dinan which have flights to UK cities.

Formerly a small farm the original farmhouse and out buildings have been converted into attractive gites, whilst retraining many of their original features. In the grounds is a 10 metre covered, heated swimming pool (heated May to early September), boules pitch, and for the more energetic a netball pitch. For younger guests there is a swing, small slide and rocker.

Plouaret is a small friendly town in easy reach of the coast and the larger towns of Lannion, MorlaIix and St Brieuc and of which are well worth visiting. There is a small market in Plouaret on Tuesday mornings and a large street market in Lannion on Thursday mornings. There is also a market in Plestin Le Greve on Sunday mornings. All these markets offer a wide range of fresh local produce as well as clothing and craft items.
