One of two houses set in 8 acres of private grounds and accessed through electronically operated gates. The house itself which guests will have the exclusive use of was built in 1828 and has been substantially renovated in recent years to provide self contained modern but comfortable facilities. Every window looks out over open views and the rear windows have sight of the village church and spire.
There is ample parking in the gravelled courtyard and a large rear garden ideal for ball games etc. accessed from a rear terace which catches the setting sun with a table chairs and BBQ. Ideal at the end of a busy day exploring the area.
The property can accommodate anywhere between two to four guests and offers the opportunity to sample the french way of life in comfort. Great place if you just wat to relax curl up and read or for any artist to bring their materials. Ideal quiet roads outside for cycling and a short walk to the village where there is a boulangerie, bar, supermarket, hairdresser and a lunchtime restaurant. Interesting market towns, including Lamballe and Dinan, within 15/30 minutes drive and the larger cities of St. Brieuc and Rennes within about 40 minutes drive and of course the beautiful and varied Breton beaches are about 35 minutes drive. The area is easy to reach by ferry and car (ports at St. Malo, Caen, Cherbourg and Roscoff) and there are airports at Dinard, Rennes and Nantes where car hire should not be a problem. Further information and any questions can be answered upon request.
Regrettably, we do not consider that the property and grounds are suitable or have the facilities for young children under the age of 12 and we cannot accept bookings that include children under that age.
Large kitchen/diner. At the kitchen end there are French doors opening onto the rear terrace and garden and views across the surrounding fields. There are the usual appliances i.e. electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and plenty of cooking utensils. The dining end has frenchdoors leading directly to the courtyard parking area making it easy to offload shopping and there is a table and chairs for 6 people.
Sitting room: A large beamed and partly stone walled room with a feature fireplace comfortably furnished with 2 sofas and a television with UK satellite reception and a dvd player. Shelving with numerous books to read during your stay and a selection of dvds.
Games room:There is a central room with a staircase to the first floor, miniature table top football, exercise bike and a full size pool table.
There are 2 bedrooms.
Bedroom 1: two 3 foot beds zipped and linked together, a large triple wardrobe with draws under and ancillary furniture.
Bedroom 2: includes two single beds with a wardrobe and chest of drawers
Both of the bedrooms have lamps and rugs and the benefit of wi-fi reception.
Comfortably furnished with a loo, washbasin with razor point over and a Victorian style bath with mixer taps.
There is none available during the period that the cottage is let. There is a woodburner in the sitting room and wood is available for sale but again unlikely to be required during the letting period.
Internally, see the description of the sitting rooms.
Externally, plenty of walking outside and quiet roads to cycle on if you bring your bikes. Also the setting is generally tranquil and lends itself to switching off, particularly nice if you normally have hectic busy lives! We think that you will have a lot to discover in the local area.
Come through the electric front gates into a secure setting. There is a large front gravelled courtyard with a private lawned area and pond and the area for the use of the cottage is to the rear. The gardens are surrounded by our fields and we have no problem with visitors walking around the perimeter track.
Parking is in the secure front courtyard immediately outside the cottage.
The cottage and garden are only for the use of our paying guests. Regrettably, we do not consider that the property and grounds are suitable or have the facilities for young children under the age of 12 and we cannot accept bookings that include children under that age.
Hello we are Chris and Pearl Davis. We have lived here at La Ville es Gouyon for 12 years and have decided that we will now give others the opportunity to rent our adjoining house for their holidays. We hope that you will like it as much as we do. Regrettably, our French language skills are not brilliant but generally we love the French people on the ground and have a good rapport with them. We will certainly do what we can to help make your holiday a success.
