Having owned language Schools in the UK teaching English to foreign students for 30+ years, I retired in 2006. We now spend a lot of the Winter in St Jeannet enjoying the scenery, the climate and the relaxing lifestyle. Whilst in St Jeannet we like skiing at Auron, golf at Biot, horseracing at Cagnes and watching Nice play football at the new Allianz stadium. In the Summer we stay in Dorest on the South Coast of England and rent out our villa so that others can enjoy this lovely area
|Year property purchased||2001|
|Why this location?||Lovely views, not too many tourists in the village, lots to see and do within a 45 minute drive. There are not many places in Europe where you can be on the beach in 30 minutes and skiing in an hour! The property is also secluded and an ideal place to relax with lots of walking (and cycling) trails nearby. The walk up the St Jeannet baou takes about an hour but the view is well worth it ---- on a clear day, you may even see Corsica. Although St Jeannet is very quiet and rustic, the bustle of Nice and Antibes is under 30 minutes drive away (Cannes, Monaco and Menton are a bit further). In the villa, you find a selection of books and DVDs plus satellite TV and wifi in the unlikely event of bad weather.there is a folder in the villa with our suggestions for day trips, shopping, markets, restaurants etc..|
|Unique benefits of property||The villa is not overlooked. you can choose between a quiet relaxation by the pool or a drive down to the Riviera coast where there is always a lot happening (Nice, Monaco, Antibes, Cannes etc) and Italy is only an hour's drive.|
Several mountain bike trails in the hills behind the villa
There are an abundance of courses around Opio, Valbonne, Cannes, Mougins, Grasse
A host of cultural sites, museums and art galleries (Matisse, Chagall, Picasso) Sports at the new Allianz Riviera stadium
The Baou de St. Jeannet is an internationally-known climbing site
The Riviera Coast is well endowed with marinas
Boutiques/markets of Monte Carlo, Juan- les Pins, Nice and Cannes
Several Guide Randomee footpaths are around Villa Hardy
We had a wonderful week at Villa Hardy. The view from the property is spectacular and we enjoyed the days around the pool and the evenings on the terrace. The property is very private and extensive. It's a fair walk to the village as it's quite steep at times but well worth it for the croissants...the restaurants were reasonable, although they don't take credit cards!! The villa is well equipped and on the whole comfortable. The pool in particular was a decent size and depth so we didn't feel the need to drive all the way down to the coast. As we were a party of six adults a second shower would have been useful... and air conditioning would have greatly improved overall comfort. But that said, we wouldn't hesitate to book this villa again!!!
Advert and description were entirely accurate. We had a really good week in the villa and would not hesitate to recommend it.
