A pretty cottage, for up to six people, situated in the peaceful Provencal countryside of the hamlet of La Galine, at the foot of the Alpilles and just 3 km from the vibrant and fashionable town of St. Remy de Provence with all its lively restaurants, shops and amenities.The Alpilles is a range of sharp peaked hills surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, lavender fields and fruit trees .

Amongst St. Remy's ancient winding streets you will discover beautifully restored houses, fantastic fountains, shady squares, elegant boutiques and restaurants.
Set in 2,500 square metres of private grounds, the property is a fully furnished detached cottage with a large living/dining room (approx. 30 square metres), stone-fireplace with wood burning fire, exposed beams, a large dining table with six chairs and a dresser and french-windows leading out onto the front and rear gardens.
The house sleeps six people in three bedrooms, has a modern fully equipped kitchen with veranda. The private gardens to the front and rear, with views out across the fields, have a terrace, lawn, large above-ground swimming pool and orchard.

Booking Notes:
A 30% deposit is required upon reservation along with a completed booking form which we will provide. The balance is due eight weeks prior to arrival. Payment is usually by bank transfer or cheque.

We accept payment by credit card through the secure Waveapps system . UK & EU cards will incur a surcharge of 1 .42% and non EU 2.99% .We can accept Paypal but this will incur a surcharge of 5% to cover their fees .

A returnable deposit of £400 (€500) is required against breakages and telephone costs (calls only).

Electricity and heating are inclusive for bookings from April-September but will be charged as extra, at local rates, from October-March.

Changeover Day:
Bookings are from Saturday (after 3:00pm) to Saturday (before 10:00am). In low season it may be possible to vary these times and days.

Prices per week are in GBP (£) and are for the villa, not by occupancy.



Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is modern and fully fitted with electric oven and hob, microwave, two refrigerators with freezer compartments, dishwasher, washing machine and other modern appliances including filter and espresso coffee machines, toaster and kettle. An iron and ironing board are available. All cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and glasses are provided.

Living rooms

A large living/dining room (approx. 30 square metres), stone-fireplace with wood burning fire, exposed beams, a large dining table with six chairs and a dresser and french-windows leading out onto the front and rear gardens.


Sleeps 6 (3 Bedrooms): one with queen size bed, one with double bed and the third with two single beds.


The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, a separate walk-in shower, wash basin, cupboard space, wc and hairdryer.
There is also a second separate wc.


Electric radiators, wood burning "insert" fire.Electricity and heating are inclusive for bookings from April-September but will be charged as extra, at local rates, from October-March.


Satellite smart tv with French and English channels . Hi-fi with iPod docking station . cds, dvds, assorted games .

Garden and outside

The private garden, tree-lined on one side and benefiting from sunshine all day long, has a large terrace looking out over the fields and countryside beyond.
Close to the terrace, there is an above-ground swimming pool (approx. 10 x 5 and 1.2m deep). Being above-ground, access can easily be restricted for young children if required. The pool will be cleaned and maintained from May to October. There is ample private parking space; a kitchen veranda and outdoor table and chairs with parasol. Garden tables and chairs, cushioned sun loungers, umbrellas and a Weber barbecue are all provided. At the far end of the garden, is an orchard with stone table and benches, a perfect spot to catch the last rays of the evening sun and enjoy an aperitif!

Ample parking for at least 3 cars .

Visitor suitability

Although the property is on one level, there are steps up to the entrance and a couple of steps within the house which may cause difficulties. There is also a step down from the terrace onto the garden.

Information about any additional facilities

One set of bedroom linen and bathroom towels per person , end of the stay cleaning and local taxes are all included in the price. Pool towels can be hired at £3 per towel .

A widescreen smart tv, dvd , cd/radio, I-Pod docking station and free wi-fi are provided.

St Remy de Provence and the surrounding area

There is a superb market in the centre of town every Wednesday morning and local festivities (“fetes”) take place in and around the town throughout the year, but particularly during the summer months. It is an historic town built on one of the oldest archaeological sites in Europe. You can roam amongst the Roman remains of "Glanum" which was founded in the 3rd century BC, and visit the "grands Thermes", the Triumphal Arch, the Temple and the Mausoleum of a true gallo-roman city. The beauty of the countryside and the quality of light have inspired many artists, the most famous being Vincent Van Gogh who produced more than 150 paintings of the surrounding area. It is also the birthplace of Nostradamus. Ideally situated for exploring the region of Provence, with the fortified papal city of Avignon just 20 minutes to the north; Arles and the natural wilderness of the Camargue to the south-west, Marseilles and the beauty of the Calanques to the south-east and the spectacular valley of the Luberon where Peter Mayle lived and wrote his famous novel “A Year in Provence”, and the films "Jean de Florette" and "Manon des Sources" were shot, to the east. Close by is the magnificent village of Les Baux de Provence perched up in the Alpilles, the fashionable town of Aix en Provence, the Roman aqueduct at Pont du Gard dating back to the first century AD and (for the antiques-hunters!) the town of Isle sur la Sorgue, famous for its 300+ antique shops and weekly fairs. Sailing, wind surfing, scuba diving etc are available at various coastal villages on the Cote Bleu, at Marseille and around Cassis, all of which are approximately within an hours drive .
