There are numerous possibilities for mountain walking in the area for all abilities. We have guidebooks and maps at the house which can be borrowed. See the website below:
The area is fantastic for cycling at all levels from an easy ride along the local canal to collect a baguette from the local boulangerie at Monetier to a ride to the top of Mont Ventoux and back for the serious cyclist. There is bike hire including electric bikes at Intersport 15 minutes away. As cyclists ourselves we can offer any advice needed and there are guides and maps at the house.
The village of Forcalquier is approx a 45min drive from here with its famous market on Monday mornings.
A spectacular waterfall and swimming spot 30mins away at the start of the Gorge de la Meouge. Very popular and well worth a visit for a swim and a rock jump.
We are a family with two sons in late teen/early twenties and we had a fantastic time at Sous les Puits. The property was exactly as described and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. If anything, the photos did not do the property justice. Everything that we needed for a fortnight's relaxing holiday was on site.
The pool area was perfect for the 4 of us, the two patios were ideal for both first thing in the morning and in the evening. The views from the patio outside the kitchen are stunning and at night the sky is so clear it is a sight to behold.
The local area is superb. My only slight disappointment is that the nearest boulangerie is 4km away on foot so not really an easy stroll, but, that boulangerie is lovely as is the village where it is located. After running there, there is a lovely cafe opposite the boulangerie for a reviving coffee before returning home.
2kms away is a lovely Auberge for dining out. There are two large towns both 30 mins away, Gap & Sisteron, both of which we visited and enjoyed. There are lots of great walks nearby in the mountains along with plenty of activities eg kayaking and Via Ferrata close by.
This was a wonderful holiday, in a superb villa, located perfectly on the edge of Provence. We would have no hesitation in recommending Sous les Puits and no reservations, ourselves about returing in future.
A lovely house in a stunning setting. Very well equipped kitchen, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and stunning outside areas. The house was very private but an easy bike ride to the bakery and a ten minute drive to the supermarket. The lakes at Serre Poncon and Eyguians were well worth a visit, and Tuesday night moules frites up the hill at the Auberge in Ventavon was a fantastic experience. The owners were welcoming and informative and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would recommend this to families without hesitation. The weather was fantastic too!!
We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at this lovely property and thoroughly enjoyed it. A great setting with good facilities. We especially loved sitting out in the evenings with a glass of wine in hand, enjoying the beautiful views and peace and quite.
The owner was really helpful and friendly which helped to make the whole experience a good one. We hope to come back again in the future.
Lovely friendly and helpful owners. Very comfortable. this is perfect for a peaceful and relaxing get away. Larange, the nearest town with a large and popular market and choice of restaurants is a 10 minute drive but it suited us to barbecue most nights. Local restaurant in Ventavon is a very French (and enjoyable) experience - it is on top of the mountain and has fantastic views. This is a great area for hiking, canoeing, cycling and climbing. The villa and pool are very well appointed, private and not overlooked. Sisteron is a charming alpine town that has a lovely selection of independent shops and eateries.
