There is really good river swimming at many places along the River Ceze within a short drive of Saint Castor. Pebble beaches and clear cool water. There are several places to hire canoes enabling you to explore the wilder, normally inaccessible areas.
There are too many good local wineries to mention on one recommendation. The area is well known for its rose and red wines. Tasting is offered at all wineries and is free of charge, although it is polite if people have spent time explaining things to you to buy a bottle or two. Excellent wineries in really close reach to Saint Castor: Megier, Cadignac, Colmobier, Saint Gervais. Too numerous to mention!
