About this property

Part of a 19th Century Provencale mas (farmhouse) surrounded by vines and cherry orchards with superb views of Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail. The mas was restored in 2002 keeping the local stone, beams and 'tomette' floors - it is furnished in modern Provencale style.

Surrounded by famous wine areas and hilltop villages, a paradise for walkers and cyclists (serious ones going up Mont Ventoux or leisurely ones cycling round the local country lanes ...). There are numerous local markets in the area as well as a wealth of restauants and cafés within a 5-10 minute drive.

The apartment is completely self-contained with your own private swimming pool and small garden with summer house and gas bbq as well as a private, secure parking and entrance. Free wi-fi. The apartment, normally for 2 people, can be extended on request by opening a communicating door to include a second spacious double bedroom suite, making an apartment for 4.

The Owner Recommends

Isle sur la Sorgue Market on Sundays

Best market for everything; fresh produce, cheeses, local pottery, olive oil and antiques. But it gets busy so you need to get up quite early (9 am) to get the full benefit and park easily :! Or go to the market in Carpentras on Fridays and every day of the week there is a market somewhere in the surrounding towns and villages ...

If Roman remains are your thing

Visit Vaison la Romaine, the Pont du Gard or the famous Arenas in Orange or Nimes or Arles.

Trips to Marseille and the Calanques

Combine a visit to the fish market on the harbour in Marseille.with a great boat trip from Cassis to the Calanques (little islands off Cassis area) or just chill on the beach at Cassis, or sipping their famous rosé in one of the excellent cafés and bistrots there.

Wine tastings galore

We are in the heart of the Cotes du Rhone wine region with its numerous trails for wine-tasting. Try the vin doux naturel (sweet white) Muscat of Beaumes de Venise or the hearty reds of Gigondas or Vacqueyras which are just the round the corner from your apartment.

Palais des Papes and the Fort in Avignon

Steeped in the history of the Popes, a visit to the Palais des Papes is a few hours well spent ! And what about the bridge of the famous song, Sur le Pont d'Avignon or just wandering around the narrow streets around the rampart area. And while you are there, cross the other bridge (which goes all the way across the river!) to Villeneuve les Avignon and visit the old Fort which has a wonderful rose garden and breathtaking views back across the Rhone to the Palace.

July and August huge choice of musical and theatrical events

The Festival of Avignon which, like Edinburgh, has its On and Off events is from 6th to 26th July, 2018; And a huge choice of concerts in the region throughout July and August, eg Intl Piano Festival of Roque d'Antheron, Opera at the famous Choregies in the Arena in Orange, smaller venues with string quartets etc in interesting venues or Jazz in the Vines. Something for all musical tastes.

Relax in a glamorous Spa with optional beauty treatments and massages

The Spa Ventoux in Malaucene is open 7/7 and offers group aquagym or acquabike courses of 1 hour or you can take a day pass and use all the Spa's facilities including the gym, the outdoor jacuzzi or even a cryotherapy session. Excellent restaurant on site means you can eat lunch without having to get dressed and can just go back and relax afterwards.

Inguerbertine Library, Carpentras

The old 'Hospital' in the centre of Carpentras has been completely renovated over the last 3 years and now houses the famous Library of Bishop Inguerbertine. The building has been beautifully restored and is worth a visit just for this. They also have free WiFi connections in there, should you need them.

Upon arrival at Les Cerisiers, my husband and I discovered that the images and description supplied by the owner were excellent, but ,in fact , could hardly do justice to the stunning views of Mont Ventoux and the French paysage, seen from the balcony , bedroom and gardens of this delightful property.
A beautiful location , extremely comfortable accomodation, decorated in stylish Provencal colours and taste was so welcoming that we felt two weeks was not long enough to spend there, and we will return next year, to further explore this beautiful fertile region of France.
Having a swimming pool was a joy to relax in , and to sit beside ,after returning from many sightseeing excursions to the hill villages, markets and more formal Roman sites in this part of Provence .Leaflets ,guides and information supplied by the owner helped us immensely.
I have no hesitation in recommending Les Cerisiers to anyone looking for a wonderful holiday gite in the south of France.
