|Les Lapins||Self Catering||Saturday||2||4||1||Convertible double sofabed|
‘Les Lapins’ is an attractive detached villa, tastefully decorated in provençale style and only 5-6 minutes (level) walk from the pretty medieval village of Seillans for that morning croissant or afternoon aperitif. It boasts a lovely secluded 4x8m swimming pool which is usually heated to 26 degrees and its tiered garden features fig, walnut, lemon and olive trees.
The hillside house faces across to Fayence with long hours of sunshine, and meals are typically taken on the covered veranda at the front, with open views of the valley and the pool (5 short steps below). Note: the tiered garden is unsuitable for children under 10yrs.
The exterior of the house has been completely redecorated Dec 2014 (photos shortly), while most of the compact garden is not overlooked – a true haven of tranquillity, which feels much bigger than its 25 x 25 metres.
The house too has a cosy feel, all being on one level, with each of the living room, roomy kitchen and spacious master bedroom enjoying spectacular views over the plain below.
There is quiet but effective air conditioning in both bedrooms (a necessity in the summer months) and in the living room.
Deposit of £200 secures booking, balance due 2 months before let date. Refundable damage deposit £250. Note: access to the whole house is latest 5.45pm Saturday, but some access earlier if required.
Charges are inclusive of electricity/air con (and of pool heating, which is usually provided), with a separate charge for linen (€20 p.p. per week, includes pool towel) and for end of let clean (€100), both payable on arrival.
The modern kitchen has all the usual amenities – dishwasher, oven, separate ceramic hob, fridge, coffee-maker and double sink.
Through a door and 2 steps down take you to the dining area/living room, though dining will usually be taken al fresco, immediately outside.
While most of your time will be spent in the glorious provençale sunshine, the recently redecorated living room comprises table and chairs, comfortable settee (convertible into a double bed for a 5th occupant), a 32 inch tv, and a dvd player, plus a library of dvds.
There are 2 bedrooms - the spacious master bedroom with double bed, wardrobe, and open views across the valley, and Bedroom 2, with 2 single beds and wardrobe. Both have completely adjustable air conditioning, cost included in the quoted price.
There is one bathroom, featuring bath, wc and footbath.
Occasionally heating is required very early in the season (first week). Costs are included in the quoted price per week.
Seillans provides all the facilities of a living village, very close by (5-6 minutes walk) and there are many facilities near at hand - see Owner Recommends.
As described above, the tiered garden is a delight, with fig, walnut, lemon and olive trees and open views across the valley.
Parking (for one car) is adjacent to the swimming pool via the automatic gates, with 6 short steps up to the pool. A further car can be accommodated off-road immediately outside the gates.
Unfortunately the tiered garden is unsuitable for children aged under 10 and for those with limited mobility, for the same reason..
Barring unforeseen events, the 4m x 8m pool is heated to 26 degrees, allowing for long lazy dips. The pool is for the exclusive use of the single party who books the villa.
Seillans is a wonderful base for exploring this delightful area of Provence, with all the facilities you would expect from a living French village. Its official title is “one of the most beautiful villages in France” yet it retains a small hamlet’s easy-going calm, with an old square up in the ancient quarter where restaurant meals are offered beneath a huge oak tree, while for a drink, the more modern bar on the lower road allows for watching the world go by. There are many local activities and provençale markets nearby, while Lac de St. Cassien and its myriad watersports is only 20 mins drive away. Further afield are more enchanting “villages perchés” while to the South lies the spectacular Cote d’Azur, and to the North the foothills of the Alps – all with amazing places to visit and all within a short drive.
