|La Bergerie||Self Catering||Saturday||1||2||1|
This delightful bergerie has been newly restored. It is most unusual to have a detached property for 2 people with its own little pool and we are sure this will be a popular choice.
The interior has lots of charm and character and is decorated and furnished in a mixture of contemporary and Provençal styles, retaining the original vaulted ceiling and stone walls. Air conditioning powered by a heat pump.
Ground floor: The kitchen area is well equipped with 3 ring induction hob, combination oven/microwave, fridge-freezer and electric kettle. Washing machine.
Ground floor: Open-plan living room with dining area, comfortable seating, television/dvd, Wi-Fi, wood burning stove, and french windows opening onto the terrace.
Mezzanine floor: Double (140cm) on a mezzanine floor above the living room
Mezzanine floor: Shower room with wc
Heating 40€ per week
Outside: Private garden (400m²), with lawn and flowerbeds, oak trees and olive trees on two levels. The splash pool (5 x 3m) is 1.6m deep and has wide steps in the corner for easy access There are two terraces, one level with the property and the other at pool level with garden furniture for outdoor dining and relaxing by the pool.
Parking space behind the property.
Other nearby activities include golf at the world class Terre Blanche course, 5km away, tennis and horse riding.
Nice airport is 60km, about 50 minutes’ drive
The property is about 30km from the coast, either Fréjus or Cannes.
Fayence is another nearby little town which has many artisans such as artists, painters and potters
The house is situated about 3km from the village of Montauroux, but there are local facilities such as restaurant, supermarket and boulangerie within about 1km. The property is very well-placed for exploring the many ancient and picturesque villages of the Var. Montauroux has a colourful local market on the village square,
Saint Cassien Lake, which is great for windsurfing and bathing, is about 6km.
Our stay got off to a bad start as the owner was late arriving at the property leaving us waiting wondering what to do. No apology was offered when they did arrive. Whilst showing us the property it was discovered that the hob in the kitchen was not working. This was resolved very quickly but we had the inconvenience of a new hob being installed as we were trying to unpack, we feel that all appliances should have been checked beforehand. The property was described as having a microwave/ combination oven. This had no instructions and despite asking the owners for help with this they were unable to do so as they didn't have any instructions available nor did they know how it worked so we had no means of using it to cook foods that required baking I.e pizzas.
The accommodation was comfortable but more than one pillow per guest should be provided luckily we had taken our own
The air conditioning unit is fantastic for keeping the bottom of the property cool but ineffective in the mezzanine bedroom meaning it was intolerably hort.
The property location description is fairly accurate however all amenities require a car and we felt that the description fails to state this and we had hoped to be able to walk to local shops and restaurants.
Montauroux itself is a village that has obviously been affected by the nearby development of large supermarkets and has very little to offer.
Finally the property itself has a building site to the rear and this can be disturbing.
