About this property

Cosy 2 bedroomed property with large shared pool. This cottage/gite is in a coastal setting.

Maison Albert is a 2 bedroomed, terraced property situated on a hill above the bustling town of Cogolin on a private, gated residential estate and is approximately 10 minutes walk (1km) from the centre of town. The estate has a large swimming pool accessed with a key, a small children’s paddling pool and 2 boules pitches for the exclusive use of residents.

The estate is made up of about 70% French full time residents and 30% foreign ownership and during the summer English holiday makers are in a minority, with many others from all over Europe. Cogolin is an all year round working French village which, unlike others in the region, remains open throughout the winter, including bars and restaurants.

It is the centre of the French pipe making industry with several workshops in the town and is also renowned for its carpet weaving.

The nearest major town to Cogolin is St Tropez (10km) and is a must for a visit with its chic shops, yachts, markets and quayside artists.

The property is close to many beautiful beaches but the nearest beach is at Marines de Cogolin (5km) an ideal spot for small children. Cogolin is also the perfect base from which to explore the picturesque country side, unspoilt villages and spectacular coast of Provence.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Miss Julie Davies

We are a retired couple who bought this property 10 years ago for family holidays. The family is now grown up but we still enjoy walking, cycling, swimming and drinking rose wine in the sun and Maison Albert is the perfect base to enjoy all these things.

Year property purchased 2007
Why this location? We first discovered the area over 30 years ago before children and on returning with family found that the area offered everything you could want for both young children and teenagers. The beaches are extremely safe, the weather is perfect, the sea is warm and both the coastal views and countryside are stunning.
Cogolin itself is a year round French village with plenty of small local shops, bars, restaurants as well as 3 large supermarkets and there are a number of local chateaux producing fine wine which you can taste with no obligation to buy. It is ideally located not only for the coast with its many beaches but also as a base to discover the interior of Provence away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside. There are two weekly local markets selling everything from fresh produce to hand made goods, clothes and flowers.
It is possible to cycle into St Tropez from Maison Albert in approximately 40 minutes and people watch on the famous quayside.
Unique benefits of property Maison Albert is situated above the village of Cogolin in a peaceful gated community which is made up primarily of French residents.
It is our home and as such you can expect lots of "home comforts" not usually found in a holiday rental property. It is cosy and comfortable with all you'll need for a perfect holiday - The kitchen is well equipped, separate toilet downstairs and free wifi. Off the main bedroom there is a south facing balcony and to get out of the sun a large awning for the rear garden. The parking place is directly in front of the house.
There are 2 pools available only to residents of the estate with access only with a key - one small pool for young children and babies and a large pool which is not only fun to play in but is also large enough to actually swim in. The pool has toilets, showers and changing facilities.

The Owner Recommends

Not to be missed!

Restaurants - Casa Roma which is perfect for families and for a special treat Petit Maison and Lili chez Allan. L’un des Sens also offers a reasonably priced set menu both lunch time and evenings.
Places to visit are almost too numerous to mention - St Tropez is a must with its yachts, designer shops, quayside artists and bars. Pampelonne beach with its famous Club 55 is probably one of the best places for star spotting.
The hillside villages of Grimaud, Bormes les Mimosas, Ramatuelle and Gassin are some of the most picturesque places in France and have amazing views of the coast and countryside.
The area is saturated with vineyards and especially recommended are Chateau Minuty and Chateau St Maur, both of which can be visited without appointments and the delicious produce sampled and purchased, but there's no obligation to buy at all.
Port Grimaud is a modern take on old Venice with its beautiful waterfront properties built around a canal system where it is possible to hire a small boat (no licence required) but also a larger motor boat if you have the required licence. The child friendly beach at Port Grimaud has a water sports centre with paddle boarding, wind surfing and dinghies for hire.

Just come back from this wonderful home from home. Everything was perfect. Very good location is the village of Cogolin. The house is in a private gated community, very secure. Julie & Paul has furnished the house with everything you could need. The shared pool was big and very quiet which was perfect. The whole set up was just lovely, we would love to return. We had breakfast on the balcony off the master bedroom and cooked and had dinner on the terrace with our twinkly lights and citronella candle. Perfect! Mostly French people live there which is nice to be away from the brits! The village is 15 minute walk where there are a host of restaurants and shops. A few supermarkets too. We hired a car and visited a few places. All within 20 mins or less. Grimaud village and Port Grimaud which is like a miniature venice, we hired a little boat for 30 minutes to explore the canals. We visited st Tropez twice and had a nice meal near the park where they play boules. We loved hotel SUBE which is on the front for delicious cafe frappes. Another trip we did was to escarlot beach and Pampelonne beach - very expensive in the beach bars but you have to have a drink and listen to the cool tunes, lots of public beach available though just lay down your towel! We also visited st Maxine - beautiful. On the way back to the airport we spent the day in the Cagnes sur mer and old town of Nice. We had the most wonderful holiday. Everything was as described and surpassed all our expectations!

We have just returned from an excellent stay in Maison Albert. The house is well equipped and has a very homely feel. The domaine it is on is quiet but is located only 15-20 minutes from the busier tourist hotspots, which was ideal for us. The swimming pool area was also a lovely space to relax and enjoy. Out and about, we particularly enjoyed visiting St Tropez on the 'bateaux verts' from nearby Port Grimaud. A little further afield, Cavalaire is a very pleasant family friendly resort and the small coastal hamlet of Gigaro offers a lovely range of beachfront restaurants and is easily accessible taking a short cut from Cogolin through to Gassin, avoiding the sometimes busy La Foux roundabout outside St Tropez.
The owner Julie was a joy to deal with and very informative and on hand with any enquiries we had before and during our stay.
All in all, we would highly recommend Maison Albert if you are looking for a good value stay and base to explore a beautiful area of France!

Maison Albert is in a ideal setting giving you a perfect base to explore this area. Close proximity to St Tropez and all the beaches local to this area. Beaches sandy, clean and have facilities for families wanting to spend a day at the beach. Parking cheap and easily accessible. Cogolin town has lots of shops and a large supermarket for all your needs. Swimming pool very large and very nice. The property has everything you need and is in extremely good order. The terrace is sunny all day and very hot as it is a proper suntrap. What more can we say fabulous holiday enjoyed by us all and the perfect place to say. Julie could not have been more helpful and informative and provided loads of information which proved to be very useful.
Will return again soon.

Maison Albert is in a very pretty setting and is the perfect base for a holiday location. On arrival we had a lovely welcome package which was very much appreciated! Paul & Julie were very helpful and provided us with lots of information before we left, and there is also an information folder at Maison Albert. The setting is very peaceful with no noise early morning or late evening. The property was clean and had everything we needed, the children especially appreciated the wifi when they needed some downtime, as we did a lot! We visited lots of surrounding areas, taking in the lovely scenery, leisurely lunches, a different beach everyday, snorkelling, boat trip to St Tropez and on our last day before flying home from Nice, we stopped at Cannes and had a great time supercar/yacht spotting! We used the swimming pool everyday which was lovely. Cogolin is quite a quiet town in the evening but we did enjoy eating at Casa Roma, if you wanted somewhere more lively you will have to drive elsewhere, which we did a couple of times, but to be honest we had such busy fun packed days we were happy to eat in the garden at Maison Albert with a game of cards in the evening! We would definitely recommend this property.

Owner response
