About this property

Lovely Villa with Private Pool and Stunning Views.. This villa is in a village setting.

Our comfortable well equipped 3 bedroomed family home is set in over half an acre of wooded and terraced private gardens just outside the beautiful medieval village of Montauroux. There are stunning views from the rooms, balcony, terrace, garden and pool area - especially magical is the sun rising over the Esterel hills!

You can enjoy alfresco meals on sunny terraces or under a covered area by the pool where there is a gas barbecue and a fridge. The pool is 10m x 5m and is fitted with an alarm to comply with French law. There are plenty of parasols and loungers for lazing by the pool. We also have a boule pitch - a game for all the family to enjoy! There is a carport for one car and parking for an additional car on the driveway.

Our villa is ideal for those who just want to relax by the pool and for those who want to combine this with visiting the glorious countryside, beautiful villages or family beaches of the Mediterranean. The towns of Grasse and Nice are within easy reach as are the sophisticated high spots of the Cote D' Azur such as Cannes and St Tropez!

We welcome children to our home but because of the steep paths and steps unfortunately our garden is not suitable for children under 7, except babies, or those with limited mobility.

We have been renting out our villa for 15 years and during that time have had many families and couples who have returned for several holidays. As this is the first year renting through Holiday France Direct we do not have any reviews on the website but all reviews on other website have rated our villa 5/5.

July 2017
We had an amazing stay in this beautiful, authentic villa. We were a family of five and the villa had big rooms, a great kitchen and living room and bathrooms for every room. We enjoyed staying by the pool during the day, and because of the excellent location we could easily drive to the nearby villages and spend our afternoons.

June 2016 We stayed in this well equipped and beautifully maintained property for a fortnight. It was perfect for our family of four. Plenty of space and a lovely pool with great views of the surrounding hills. The description of the property is very accurate. Highly recommended for relaxation and sightseeing. Perfect!

June 2015 We had a most relaxing time at this lovely villa. It is a very private and peaceful position near Lac St Cassien and all local amenities. It is perfect for touring the local hilltop villages, visiting the coast and generally enjoying the warmth of Provence. We would thoroughly recommend this villa.

August 2014 What a fabulous holiday villa! The views are superb, it is in a fantastic situation - very easy to reach the whole area. The villa is so clean, well maintained and has everything you need. We have been visiting the South of France for 10 years and have stayed in a such a variety of holiday homes. This was the most enjoyable so far! We will definitely return!

We have a modern, well equipped kitchen with double oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, toaster, liquidiser and microwave.

The washing machine is in a separate utility room.

We provide plenty of pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses.

In the summer we eat most meals outside on the terrace or by the pool enjoying the wonderful views but there is a large dining table and 8 chairs in the living room.

Living rooms

The living room is large and airy with one set of French doors leading on to the balcony and another set leading on to the terrace. There are two large comfortable sofas, bookcase, coffee table and a dining table and chairs. There is a flat screen television, dvd player and radio.

From the living room there are stairs to the upstairs bedroom.

We rarely use the living room in the summer as we find that we are outside most of the time

Bedrooms

There are 3 bedrooms all with lovely views of the Esterel hills. The 2 double bedrooms are on the ground floor but because the villa is set into a hillside they are one floor up at the front of the villa with French doors on to the balcony where you can enjoy the wonderful views.

There is oil fired central heating and an open fireplace where we burn logs on chilly evenings.

Entertainment

We have a flat screen television, dvd player and radio. There are also plenty of books and several boardgames and cards.Outside there is a boule pitch built for the previous French owner.

There is free wi-fi available.

Garden and outside

The swimming pool is 10m x 5m and has a shallow end and large semi circular steps for less confident swimmers. To comply with French law it is fitted with a pool alarm. Our professional pool man comes once a week to ensure the pool is clean and the chemicals are correctly balanced.

Around the pool there is terracing and plenty of chairs, parasols and sun loungers where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views. There is also a table and chairs and gas barbecue for dining and a covered where you can sit, relax and eat away from the sun.

The professionally built boule pitch provides hours of fun for all ages. We provide metal boule for adults and lighter plastic ones for children. We have become quite addicted to playing!

The mature garden has native oak trees, palm trees, shrubs, lavender, and a variety of herbs and flowering plants. The wooded area at the bottom of the garden is steep and can be accessed by a path. Our gardeners come once a fortnight.

Parking and garages

There is a car port for one car and parking for another car on the drive. The entrance to the grounds is via wrought iron gates which can be locked for additional security.

A car is necessary to explore the area and also to access the shops which are a five minute drive away.

Visitor suitability

The house is suitable for families or couples.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Gillian Phillips

We are a retired couple with two children and four lively young grandchildren. I am a retired teacher and Mike ran a small hi-tec business. We live in a small village in Northamptonshire enjoying activities including walking, painting, gardening and French classes but since buying our villa 15 years ago we have spent more and more time in Montauroux.

Year property purchased 2003
Why this location? After spending many family holidays in various parts of France gradually moving south we eventually found this part of Provence which offered everything we wanted - stunning scenery, beautiful villages, excellent walking areas, easy access to the beaches of the Mediterranean and towns such as Nice, Cannes and St Tropez and of course a wonderful climate! After dreaming of buying a villa for many years we 'took the plunge' 15 years ago - it was one of our best decisions!. We fell in love with it immediately and love every minute we spend there whether we are relaxing by the pool, eating al fresco whilst enjoying the amazing views or visiting interesting towns, art galleries, concerts and festivals. After 15 years we are still finding new places to visit and activities to enjoy! It is easy to get there by plane, Nice airport is less than 60 kms away, or by car as the motorway only 12kms away.
Unique benefits of property The location and the stunning views of the Esterel hills! Our villa is ideal for those who just want to relax by the pool and those who want to combine this with visits to the glorious countryside, beautiful villages or the beaches of the Riviera and towns such as Cannes, St Tropez and Nice.

The Owner Recommends

Places to See, Local Events and Restaurants

Lac St Cassien
A five minute drive away is the large freshwater Lac St Cassien where you can swim, walk, hire canoes and pedalos or just enjoy a picnic or a meal in a lakeside restaurant! The pedalos are a favourite with all our family!

Local Villages and Towns
The medieval hilltop villages of Montauroux, Tourrettes, Fayence, Mons and St Cezaire are our favourites. You can wander through them, eat in the restaurants, shop at the markets and enjoy the wonderful views. Grasse, capital of the perfume industry (tour available) is just 20 minutes away.

Markets - mornings from about 8 -1
Our favourites are in Fayence on Saturdays, with smaller markets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Lorgues on Tuesdays. Antibes and Nice markets are open daily except on Mondays.

Beaches
Our favourites are at Antibes, La Napoule and Agay

Gorge de Verdon
An hour’s drive will take you to the Gorge du Verdon (the deepest gorge in Europe) and Lac de Ste Croix (the largest manmade lake in Europe) where you can hire pedalos. The views are spectacular!.

Antibes
We love visiting Antibes where you can wander in the back streets, visit the market and gallery, have lunch or sit on the lovely sandy beach.

St Tropez
Well worth visiting especially if you like watching artists at work or visiting art galleries. It is best to drive to Ste Maxime and take the short ferry ride over the bay.

Events
You will be welcome at local events including the Montauroux International Guitar festival in August and many other concerts, often free, and fairs.

Restaurants
There are many restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Our favourites include the Pomme de Pin in Montauroux which serves excellent pizzas and is very popular with the French, the Auberge Provencal in Mons which has amazing views and Le Moulin de la Camandoule in Fayence, regarded as the best restaurant in the area, where we have enjoyed delicious food, excellent service and a lovely ambiance.

We had a wonderful 2 week stay exploring the area with this lovely peaceful villa to return to each day. The rooms are comfortable, there's a large living room with a beautiful view, the kitchen is one of the best equipped we've stayed with and the pool is private with loungers etc and big enough for a swim.
The villa feels very much a home from home, with games, books, beach things etc available for us to use.
Although the facilities are lovely we also went out most days and could have spent so much longer there, exploring the medieval villages and markets, walking the hillsides, swimming in the lakes and rivers, day-trips to the coast and to Monaco. Definitely visit the Gorges du Verdon, it's stunning! We had a couple of meals at the Pomme De Pin restaurant (10 mins away) and highly recommend their pizzas.
I would happily go back both to this area and this villa and would recommend it friends and family.
