This classic southern French villa with private pool is set down a quiet track on the edge of the medieval village of Montmeyan, which provides all amenities within walking distance, including a well-stocked Vival mini-supermarket, bakery, butcher, friendly restaurant and tabac-café, plus an artist’s atelier and a fascinating historic village trail culminating in wonderful views of Provence and the southern Alps.

Montmeyan is on the edge of the Verdon National Park and is an excellent base for exploring Provence whilst enjoying rural peace and quiet at night. In addition to the local equestrian centre, it is a 10 minute drive to Quinson with boating and kayaking in the lower Gorges du Verdon and the Museum of Prehistory, and a 25 minute drive to the even more stunning upper Gorges du Verdon, with water sports on the breathtaking turquoise waters of Lac Ste Croix, pretty lakeside villages, sand and pebble beaches and hiking. The beautiful town of Cotignac is nearby with its spectacular cave dwellings, art shops and restaurants. Aups is the truffle capital of the Var and provides a further variety of excellent restaurants and shops. Traditional Provencale markets can be found on any day of the week in these and many other beautiful towns and villages in the area. The lavender fields of Provence and the Luberon can be found to the north and west of Montmeyan, and the opulence of the French Riviera is just 1.5 hours’ drive away, with many beautiful villages and views along the way.

Les Mimosas has a large sunny pool area with a terrace for dining or sunbathing, and a shady veranda overlooking the pool area. The large 3250m2 (0.8 acre) garden has badminton and table tennis set, barbecue and private swimming pool with security alarm and locking retractable cover. Outside the villa there is ample parking in the large garden.

Kitchen and dining

The main living area contains an open plan kitchen with separate dining area and large lounge.

The kitchen has a 5 ring gas cooker with large oven, double sink, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and microwave (a washing machine is in the garage). A full range of dishes, glasses, cups, cookware and utensils is provided.

The adjacent dining area has a large dining table which can seat 10 people, and a cot and highchair are available on request.

Living rooms

The lounge/dining room has 40 inch hd flatscreen tv that receives main UK channels, and dvd player. There is a leather corner sofa and large open fireplace. There is a selection of indoor board games, an assortment of books in various genres and a variety of cookbooks.

The villa has oil-fired radiators and a large open fire, though these are only required during the winter months.

Large secluded garden of 3,250 square metres (0.8 acre) with a selection of trees including olive, bay, pine, oak and cherry.

Patio and terrace for sunbathing. Sun loungers, parasols, outside dining and bistro tables and chairs are included. Many shady areas to sit outside.

Parking and garages

Ample parking is available within the grounds outside the property. The garage (which is used for storage purposes) contains a washing machine and separate shower room with wc which can be accessed directly from outside.

Visitor suitability

The main living area of the villa is all on one level and, other than the front door threshold, has step free access to all rooms except the mezzanine.

The pool has a retractable locking cover and an alarm. Parents are required to supervise children at all times and ensure that the alarm is active and/or the pool is covered and locked when not in use under adult supervision.

I spent 12 lovely days here with my husband and our two grown-up children (21&18). The owner was very helpful and prompt to answer any questions both before and during our stay and our deposit was returned to us very promptly. The photos and description of the house were very accurate. The house was clean, comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing at the property - there are books, dvds, games, badminton, boules, table tennis and of course the lovely pool. The village is small but charming with a good shop and boulangerie. The large supermarket was a 10 minute drive. We enjoyed exploring the area. We drove around the Gorges de Verdon and Lac Ste Croix and found the scenery breathtaking. We also hired a boat and canoe to explore the gorge and swam in the lake at one of the many beaches. We visited some lovely villages - Sillan La Cascade, Ste Marie Moustiers and Cotignac. We loved the mountains, lavender and sunflower fields, vineyards and olive groves. We had a great holiday and were pleased we had chosen this region and this property.
