The spacious lounge has 2 sets of frenchdoors opening on to the patio and has seating for 8. The large dining room also has frenchdoors on to the patio and has seating for 6. There is fully equiped kitchen and a wetroom type bathroom. All of the rooms are on the same level with only 1 step up to the front door and level access to the rear with door thresholds. The house is light and airy. It also has a logburner for a cosy feel. We frequently use the house ourselves so the house is furnished comfortably and not just the bare minimum.
You should feel at home straight away and you can use anything in the house.
Situated in a typical French farming community, it is ideal for walking or cycling as soon as you leave the front door! With Hesdin only 5-10 min drive, you will find bars/restaurants, banks, shops etc in the town centre. There is a fabulous weekly market on Thursdays, which is one of the best in the region. The town itself is very attractive. Built in renaissance style it is nice to wander round the streets and alleyways and maybe sample some of the local produce or pause for a glass of wine at one of the cafes.

The location of the house is ideal for exploring many places. Try the towns of Amien or Arras. There is an underground city at Naours. There are huge grounds to explore and picnic areas. The gardens of Sericourt (as seen on t.v. with Monty Don) are less than 45 mins. drive. There is a steam train that runs around the baye de la somme from Le crotoy - St. Valerie sur somme. Lovely views and lots of restaurants/shops. From here you can also take a boat trip.

Based around the market square there are bars, restaurants, banks, post office and a variety of shops. There is a large market every Thursday morning. Just on the outskirts there are Carrefour, Intermarche, Lidl and Aldi supermarkets. Both Carrefour and Intermarche have petrol stations. Also, there is a new swimming pool which incorporates a small bowling alley, gym and café.
Set about 60 miles from Calais near Hesdin. There is plenty to do you just need to go out to it, we managed battlefields, Disney, Versailles, Nausica and local trips too. The local town has shopping facilities or go to the larger towns for the bigger shops such as Abbeville or Aimes. The Gite itself is clean and comfortable with a great front and back garden. All the mod cons in the house including freeview sky all in English. The adverts were accurate and there was more in terms of cooking equipment, books, games than in most cottages we have stayed in. There was a washing machine with either a line or clothes horse. The Gite looked and smelt clean as we walked in, all in good condition. Felt very secure with all doors and windows lockable and the usual french shutters over the windows. The shower room is a wet room, which took us some getting used too but no issues. Lots of space for a family of 4, you can add an extra x2 people in the dining room by way of a sofa bed. All manageable if you wanted too. You are in the middle of the french countryside and the noises of chickens, cockerels and farm-life is everywhere- all in all very peaceful. We would choose to go back again given the opptunity
Thank you for your kind comments. we have had the house for 14yrs now and have put as much as we can into the house to make it a home from home and not just the basics.
We look forward to seeing you again for a future visit.
