Fully Restored Brick Fermette. This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

An ideal place for relaxing weekends with family and friends, or for longer stays to discover nature, heritage and history.

Les Trois Agaches (The Three Magpies) is a fully restored brick farmhouse in a peaceful village 16 miles from Arras and 20 miles from Amiens.
Gaudiempré is a small rural village of 200. Do not look for bars or discos. If you want peace and quiet, look no further.
If, however, you feel like a bit of nightlife, Arras or Amiens are only half an hours drive away.

Wide choice of walking trails within a 10km radius, as well as the Voie Verte Départementale, a hiking path built on what was originally a railway line between Arras and Doullens.

Just a few miles to the south, explore the Circuit du Souvenir (Circuit of Remembrance), and remember those who, 100 years ago, took part in some of the bloodiest fighting in World War One. Pozières, Beaumont-Hamel, Thiepval, etc, are just a few miles away.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Yannick Boutier

A recently retired university lecturer with a keen interest in history, heritage end travelling, I also enjoy restoring and riding vintage and classic motorcycles. Car and motorcycle enthusiasts warmly welcome.

Year property purchased 2001
Why this location? The house was originaly purchased for our daughter to live in. It was then rented out for several years. It has since been sympathetically restored and improved, and we now prefer to run the property as a gîte, which means meeting people from different horizons all the time
Unique benefits of property The house is bright, spacious and pleasant to live in. It is also an ideal location for those wishing to explore the Somme area. Also, anyone travelling to France for the Euro 2016 would have a convenient base to travel to either Lens or Lille, or even Paris (50mins by train from Arras)

The Owner Recommends

More To Do... More To See

25km (18m) to the north east is Arras and its famous squares, and the Wellington Quarries. 10km (6m) to the north of Arras, discover another WWI landmark : Vimy Ridge, and the newly built Anneau de la Mémoire. 35km (20m) to the south west is Amiens and its world famous cathedral. Both cities feature on Unesco's world heritage list. And if you feel like going a little further afield, why not visit St Valery sur Somme, where William set sail from? Or the famous Marquenterre bird sanctuary, that is only 90km, or just over 1 hours drive away. Or Agincourt, where Henry V defeated the French army about 600 years ago? Finally, for those interested in motor sport, the local circuit at Croix en Ternois (nr. Saint Pol) is just ½ hour away. As a keen classic and vintage motorcycle enthusiast, I shall be pleased to show you a variety of interesting routes.

Had a great holiday!

The property was larger than we expected and had lots of character. Located in a small farming village, between Calais and Paris. Doullens is about 10 minutes away (Aldi, McDonalds). A little over an hour away is Berck Sur Mer (seaside). Lots of World War 1 places to visit as your in The Somme.

Owner speaks perfect English and is very helpful.

Happy to recommend and we will be back again.

Owner response
