My name is Jan and along with my husband Geoff we run "19". We have travelled extensively throughout France and always passed through Northern France on our way elsewhere One year we decided to spend a week and fell in love with this very under rated part of France We come from Kent so being situated within 1 hour of Calais is ideal for us as we still have a home in England and Geoff runs a small engineering business in the UK.

We look forward to meeting you

|Why this location?||Northern France's best kept secret, The Seven Valleys area in Pas-de-Calais, is a land of rivers and streams, valleys, woods and forests. It is a place shaped by history and has been at times English, Spanish and French.
Within easy reach of Calais (approx 1 hours drive), Herly is the ideal centre for an overnight stay, a short break or longer holiday. Nestled in the heart of the Seven Valleys, this is a charming area and remains remarkably unspoiled. With its fine Opal Coast, charming villages, historic battlefields, including those of Agincourt and the First World War, the Seven Valleys is also an ideal centre for fishing, walking and cycling. With so much to do there is something for everybody.
|Unique benefits of property||19 is a tastefully renovated fermette, offering self catering accommodation. The property offers four en suite rooms, sleeping up to 12 people, plus a large lounge area, kitchen, laundry and outside decking area and private garden
Herly is a small farming village. Rural and peaceful but not too far from civilisation! The golden beaches of the Opal Coast are within easy reach (approx 30 mins by car) and the whole area is surrounded by safe cycle and walking routes. We are able to offer safe storage facilities for cyclists.
For those interested in history Azincourt is approx 15 mins away and the battlefields of the Somme are within 1 hours drive.
"19" is perfect for large groups and family holidays. The large lounge (formerly a barn) is 80 ft long so there is plenty of room for everyone and the private garden comes equipped with plenty of equipment and toys to keep our youngest guests amused.
Sorry, but with the exception of assistance dogs will do not cater for animals
The museum at Azincourt is ideal for families with lots of interactive exhibits.
La Coupole near St Omer is well worth a visit You can visit the bunker which was the V2 launch base during the Second World War.
A visit to Vimy Ridge near Arras with it's underground tunnels, trenches and beautiful memorial although an hour away from Herly is a must.
The Opal Coast with it's quite golden beaches is within 30 minutes of Herly.
We have many favourites but would recommend a visit to Fort Mahon Plage and during the month of April Berck hosts it's annual kite festival. Le Touquet is busier and also has a water park - Aqualud.
A little further afield is St Valery sur Somme Situated on the estuary in the Bay of the Somme this is a delightful town with lots to do for all age groups. Also good seafood.
There are lots of pretty towns and villages nearby.
Here are a few of our favourites:
Arras Beautiful town squares and architecture and a good selection of shops.
St Omer again beautiful architecture in the old quarters. Just outside of the town you will find beautiful public gardens and a nature reserve where you can take a boat ride through the marshes.
Boulogne sur Mer The old part of the town with it's beautiful citadel is full of restaurants and shops.
Montreuil sur Mer the setting for Les Miserables. This historic walled town is very pretty. Lots of cobbled streets and you can take a walk around the ramparts.
Smaller towns include Hesdin and Aire sur Lys. Both pretty and nice for an afternoon outing.
Most towns hold weekly markets which are also well worth a visit.
If you fancy a cheap no fuss meal we can recommend Friterie Francky in Maninghem - a 10 minute drive you can take away of eat in. You will receive a very warm welcome and the food is excellent.
Le Fournil in Coupelle Vielle is excellent and well priced. Approx 20 minutes drive and booking is advisable.
Relais de la Forge in Attin provides a good no frills menu with lots of daily specials. Again well priced and around 20 minutes drive.
Approx 30 minutes away in Hesdin you will find our favourite restaurant L'écurie. Amazing food and well priced but booking is essential.
The whole area is surrounded by safe cycle and walking routes. The Tourist Information centre in nearby in Hucqueliers is an excellent source of information.
The Sevens Valleys boosts 7 rivers all within easy reach of Herly plus the coast is within a 30 minute drive.
