|Rose Cottage||Self Catering||Saturday||1||4||1||Family bedroom with privacy curtain for single bed|
Our DOG FRIENDLY cottage is just under one hour from Calais and in a beautifully unspoit part of France. Additionally our cottage has been designed to make life easy for WHEELCHAIR users – accredited with Paralysé de France – and is set in the courtyard of our farmhouse.
We are 40 minutes from the sandy beaches of the Cote d'Opale which are easily reachable by car and we are just 20 minutes from the lovely town of Montreuil sur Mer and just 40 minutes from chic Le Touquet Paris Plage. Saint Omer with its canals and cobbled squares is 30 minutes away. The cottage is situated on a rural lane with not a lot of passing traffic, maybe the local farmer and tractor and that's it.
Ideal for a couple or a small family (young children only) it has a comfortable living/dining/kitchen area with full size oven, hob, fridge with freezer, microwave, tv (freeview), double doors to a large family bedroom with double bed and a single bed (separated by privacy curtain) and a large walk-in wet room with spacious shower, basin and wc – shower and wc have grab bars to facilitate access and raised wc seat if needed is available.
There is a flat terrace to enjoy alfresco dining in the summer evenings or just kick back and look at the amazing stars in the night sky ... we have no light pollution so star gazing is a favourite. Walks around the fields at the back of the cottages provide wide open spaces and a chance to spot local wildlife including deer, pheasant, partridge, birds of prey and in the springtime you can see the boxing hares.
Parking is in the courtyard of our farmhouse and there is a dedicated parking next to the cottage if needed.
The kitchen and dining area have an electric oven (full size) and a gas hob together with a microwave and a fridge with a small box freezer section. Well equipped with crockery and saucepans its is missing nothing.
A drop leaf table can be extended for more dining space and there is a two seater sofa and a separate armchair in the living area.
One standard double bed with orthopaedic mattress and mattress protectors, and a single bed.
The cottage is set up for 3 but we can add in a travel cot for a baby.
We provide good quality linen and towels free of charge and season appropriate duvets and bed throws (if required in the cooler months).
Spacious walk-in shower room with a shower alcove with grap bars, pull down seat and adjustable shower head. Toilet has a grab bar and we can provide a higher toilet seat if required. There is a washing machine in an enclosed cupboard together with an ironing board and iron.
The cottage has been built with good insulation however for the cooler months we have electric wall heaters for you to use.
There is a colour tv with dvd and free wi-fi is provided in the cottage. We can offer you a selection of books or dvds from our vast library - there is something for every age group. We also have a selection of board games on request
You have free access to the courtyard of our farmhouse. The shared splash pool is for both you to use and the guests in The Barn. There is a communual terrace alongside the pool - ideal for evening drinks with new friends - and a lawned area with sun loungers.
Your private terrace is immediately opposite Rose Cottage where you have a bbq, good quality wooden furniture and a parasol.
We ask if you bring your dog that it is kept on a lead whilst in the courtyard as this is shared. We also have cats but they are used to dogs as we have 2 dogs of our own.
Parking is on site
Ideal for wheelchair users - we meet all the requirements of Paralyse de France.
Your well behaved dog is welcome as long as it are kept on a lead in the courtyard, not left alone in the cottage and ideally don’t get on the furniture. We réalise that this is not always possible so please can you bring a throw or two to protect the sofa, we can provide for a small charge.
We also provide a doggie welcome pack with homemade organic dog treats and a list of fabulous walks for you all to enjoy.
Although the cottage is set in our courtyard, it is rural and we have great walks starting from right outside the cottage. The lane is very quiet with little passing traffic.
Lived in France for 16 years and we have 3 rental cottages in the village and a beautiful 4th one in the next village. We love saving old properties, restoring furniture and crafting and walking out two dogs in the fields behind the houses or along the fabulous beaches. Children all grown up so now have time for enjoying the lovely countryside, cooking and looking after our guests.

|Why this location?||Fell in love with the area in my teens and had a French penfriend, we ended up buying her grandmother’s farm and undertook a major renovation project to restore the farmhouse to its original condition. This area has fantastic walks and sandy beaches and we fall in love with the region every day. Very close to the Tunnel or ferries, our cottages are easily reached and are less than one hour from Calais but offer total peace and traquility in a rural French village.|
|Unique benefits of property||Accredited Paralyse de France in 2004 we welcome wheelchair users or those who prefer their living accommodation on one level. Rose Cottage has a walk-in wetroom with grab rails, a higher wc seat if required and we are on hand to help you throughout your holiday so you get the best time here.
Rose Cottage can be booked with The Barn (both properties share the main farmhouse courtyard) so can accommodate a larger group of friends / family who wish to holiday together but need their own space.
No longer on the sea, the river silted up hundreds of years ago, you can walk the ramparts of this ancient walled town which offer spectacular views across the open countryside. Holding hands is almost compulsory as there are no safety barriers so strolling along under the trees or watching the world go by is a lovely way to spend an afternoon whether it be winter or summertime. Drop down into the town centre for a coffee or cake - or both or a hot bowl of soup. Enjoy the old buildings in the town, the many restaurants and the lovely church and the artisans shops including cheese, chocolate and a lovely book shop
