A sister property to The Barn in Frolois just 1km away in the sub-hamlet of Corpoyer-les-Moines this property sits in an elevated position looking down on some houses below. Linked by footpath or by road to The Barn, the 2 may be booked together for groups or enjoyed separately.

The luminous living area is an open plan, well thought out space with fully equipped fitted kitchen (with dishwasher, large family sized fridge-freezer, full size oven and hob, extractor fan, toaster, kettle and coffee-machine). The dining area within the same space offers a round table for 4 (can be extended if entertaining) with 4 dining chairs. A spacious area that opens out onto a beautiful mature garden with meandering footpaths leading to hidden corners. A large picture window in the kitchen/dining area brings the garden indoors with the lovely view.
Two large picture windows in the living room offer outstanding views across the countryside and can be opened widely to encourage breeze and enjoy the fresh country air. Two large armchairs and an oversized sofa offer relaxing comfort surrounding a coffee-table holding picture books on the area. There is a bookshelf where a large tv with free to air UK channels are available for your use along with a dvd player. A selection of fiction and non fiction books are there for your use, should you find yourselves short of reading matter. Local Tourism Information with leaflets and guide books are stored in the living area.
La Petite Maison has 2 stylish bedrooms. Bedroom o1 ne has a large double bed (bed 160cm x 200cm) located upstairs from the living area with its own en suite shower room. Outstanding views lead across the valley from the bedroom Velux window. You will find this bedroom has plenty of storage for your belongings and a pretty dressing table with hairdryer and a large electric fan for the summer. An uncluttered space to relax in during your stay.
Bedroom 2 is down a few steps from the main living area, configured with 2 single beds (2 x beds of 90cm x 200cm) and an enormous picture window dominates the room for you to enjoy the rural views of the garden and beyond. Like the other bedroom, there is plenty of storage for your belongings along with a hairdryer and fan for your use.
All the beds in the property have new mattresses and are dressed in cool white cotton linens, made up for your arrival. There are enough pillows for 2 per person and there is a choice of fillings.
The upstairs double bedroom has an en suite shower room with shower, wc, heated towel rail and basin. Towels are included in the rental costs. A small window allows extra light and a charming rural view.
The downstairs bathroom is opposite the downstairs bedroom. This too offers a large shower, heated towel rail, wc and basin. Towels included.
Electrical heating throughout the property. Extra 'flame effect' heater for use in winter lets.
UK tv with free to air channels, dvd player and free wi-fi for our guests to use during their stay.
Children will love to play hide and seek in this enchanted, mature garden. Adults can choose where to relax from the sunny terrace with its stone table and benches, hidden seating areas, or the shady, covered al fresco dining area which offers protection from the sunshine or the odd rain shower. All areas enjoy the wonderful green view across the valley. A quiet and private location to enjoy the peaceful setting.

For our younger guests we can provide a cot in either of the bedrooms, highchair, stairgate, changing mat, toys, books, dvds. There is a microwave oven to make baby food preparation easy, plastic plates and cups along with child-sized cutlery. A babybath can be easily positioned in the larger downstairs shower room.

Due to steps in the property and garden, La Petite Maison is not suitable for people with limited mobility.
The owners offer a catering service to take away some of the 'self' from self-catering. This may be arranged in advance of your stay or once you are at the house. We can also offer bespoke childrens' menus along with child sized portions from the choices available. Please enquire for more details.
Like The Barn, there is daily bread available that can be delivered to you for your daily requirement of French baguettes and pastries.

Within 15 minutes drive of La Petite Maison is the beautiful Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, A hill top beauty. This medieval walled village was the backdrop for the film 'Chocolat' starring Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche. In addition to it's Hollywood fame, call in at the Anis de Flavigny sweet shop. Here you can buy Les bonbons d'anis, hand made in the local factory. The Roman ruins at Alesia and its new visitor centre are worth a detour if archeology and Roman history interest you. The Château of Bussy-Rabutin, developed from a 12th century chateau and rebuilt in the 14th century in the rennaisance style is close by, along with the picturesque medieval cobbled streets of Semur-en-Auxois. Not to be missed is the Abbaye at Fontenay founded by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux in 1118, and built in the Romanesque style. It is one of the oldest and most complete Cistercian abbeys in Europe, and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. The area is rich with heritige and no matter where your interests lie there will be something for you. In addition, you could stumble upon any number of local festivities, such as summer fêtes, village flea markets, musical soirees, etc depending on when you visit. Checking in with the local Tourist Office ensures you are up to date with the local events during your stay.
For the young at heart, there is a fabulous swimming pool complex in Montbard. Teens and adrenalin junkies will love Nigloland theme park. The Parc d'Auxois wildlife zoo and adventure park, is perfect for young children and toddlers. There is also a new 'acrobranche' tree climbing experience near to Semur en Auxois. It is easy and convienient to hire bicycles and explore the country lanes and the Canal de Bourgogne. Hop on the tourist boat that leaves from Pouilly-en-Auxois and experience the locks and tunnel of the beautiful Canal. Or enjoy horseriding at the stables just 5 minutes away from the two properties.
Fontenay Abbey in Burgundy was founded in 1118 by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, a leading French saint, and is the oldest preserved Cistercian abbey in the world.
Recognized as French historic monument in 1862, it was declared World Heritage by Unesco in 1981. It was one of the first French monuments on this list, which has distinguished the exceptional interest of the Abbey and its natural environment.
The town of Beaune and its neighbouring vineyards, just over an hours drive away, is credited with producing some of the best red and white wines in the world. This world known town is well worth a visit during your time in Burgundy. The Hotel-Dieu, dating back to 1443, built by Nicolas Rolin as a hospital for the poor, is one of the finest examples of 15th century French architecture, is also a must see. The old town is lined with many restaurants, cafes and beautiful shops to explore.
The historic city of Dijon, just 45 minutes drive away, awaits you to explore its hidden streets, beautiful squares and marvel at the amazing covered market designed by Gustav Eiffel (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday morning). Naturally, there is an abundance of fabulous restaurants, wine bars and shops to sample along with the historic Owls trail to follow. Check in at the local Tourist Office for all the information.
