|Unique benefits of property||Peaceful.
Plenty of space.
Historical churches and buildings.
A lovely Sunday morning market each week throughout the year. Lots of local produce for sale.
The best wine producers in Burgundy.
A wonderful medieval village on the Serein river.
Our favourite restuarant " la Vielle Tour " is on the edge of the village .
Great for sightseeing, shopping, and eating.
Swimming pool with large outside pools for the summer.
Tonnerre has the nearest supermarkets to us. You can find Auchan, L'eclerc as well as the traditional smaller shops like the " boulangerie ".
A drive in underground quarry, which specialises in Cremant wine.
The Western Gatehouse is a beautiful property in an idyllic location, perfectly equipped for our family of 5 people. We could sit outside with a wonderful view of the old chateau or play boules in the village square just opposite. A car is essential as there is no shop or restaurant in the village but there are nearby towns (Chablis, Tonnerre) and the bread van comes in the morning. Leslie was a perfect host and could not have been more helpful or welcoming, from recommending (and booking ) a restaurant for us on the Sunday night of our arrival to recommending wine caves to try and river spots to swim in. I would highly recommend the property as a great base for exploring the local area and relaxing.
