Located just 40 minutes from Geneva airport (36km), Onnion provides excellent access to more than 50km of local downhill ski runs and another 50km of Nordic ski tracks (in the summer, the tracks double as mountain bike routes) for those who prefer a more energetic winter holiday. The larger ski resorts of Praz de Lys - Web Cam (8km) Morzine (35km), Avoriaz, Flaine (27km) and Chamonix (61km) are all within easy driving distance, along with many smaller resorts.

In the summer months the Les Brasses area, which comprises the four villages of Onnion, Bogeve, Saint Jeoire and Viuz-en-Sallaz, is an adventure sports paradise. Visitors can participate in activities ranging from road cycling and mountain biking to paragliding, or take advantage of the leisure facilities that include an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts. Tour De France climbs nearby are La Clusaz - Col du Aravis (18km), Le Grand Bornand - Col de la Columbiere (43km), and Samoens - Joux Plane (29km)

Onnion is also a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding fabulous Haute Savoie area, with Lake Geneva (Lac Leman), Evian and Annecy just a short drive or cycle ride away.

Onnion is just a few kilometres drive up the mountain from St Jeoire. St Jeoire is a small town with all of the shops, hotels, bars, supermarkets, banks, petrol stations, Post Office, Tourist Information, bus services, and eveything else that you might need.

Further up the mountain there are the cross country and alpine ski areas of Plaine Joux and Les Brasses. In the summer these are very popular with mountain bikers, walkers and road cyclists.

The large towns of Annemasse, close to Geneva, and Cluses, on the way to Chamonix, can be easily reached by car within 16-20 min. Annemasse and Geneva have all of the shopping that anyone can manage! The lake at Geneva is also a popular tourist attraction. Cluses is also popular, with plenty of hotels, bars, restaurants, hypermarkets and sports facilities.

The chalet features 4 double bedrooms over two floors, with an additional double sofa bed available in the spacious living room. In the large dining room, the dining table seats 8 comfortably and can accomodate 10-12 if required. The south facing balconies offer spectaular views of the local Les Brasses ski area and of Mont Blanc. There is plenty of space for ski and boot storage in the garage which keeps all of the kit dry. Cycles can also be safely stored in the garage.

The chalet has a tv and dvd player, internet access, fridge-feezer, oven and hob, woodburner fire, washing machine, 1 bathroom, 1 shower room with wc and a separate wc. The chalet is 'No Smoking' throughout.

Mountain Biking and Cycling

In the summer, the trails are used by mountain bikers, walkers and runners, who all enjoy some of the most picturesque areas of the Haute Savoie region. If you prefer cycling down mountains rather than up them, every Thursday afternoon you can take your bike on the ski lift at Onnion or Habere Poche, and enjoy the thrill of coming down without the effort of pedalling up! For the serious road cyclist, there are many marked routes which, if you wish, can take you on some of the best climbs in the Tour De France - Joux Plane (Samoens - Joux Plane - Morzine) being one of the toughest (http://perso.orange.fr/l.maison/jouxplane/english.htm). Tour De France climbs nearby are La Clusaz - Col du Aravis (18km), Le Grand Bornand - Col de la Columbiere (43km), and Samoens - Joux Plane (29km). The local 'Plaines Joux' is a good warm up for the more challenging climbs and Samoens out and return is a stunning ride.

Climbing, parapenting and gliding

The more adventurous visitors can indulge in climbing on the the "Rocher Blanc" (on the left as you arrive at Plaines Joux) which will give you some challenging ascents. If that doesn't get enough adrenaline flowing, then how about paragliding or even gliding? This way you can view the region from the air! Of course, you will be accompanied by an expert instructor - no one expects you to launch off yourself without some instruction!

Paragliding

The chalet is located only 15 minutes drive from the famous Mieussy take-off. You can also fly from the mountain behind the chalet. Most of the other flying sites are no more than 45 minutes drive away. These include Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Samoens, Flaine and Le Grand Bornand etc.The furthest is Chamonix that is reached by motorway in 1 hour.

The Kitchen area is separate with fridge/feezer, oven and hob, dishwasher, coffee-machine, toaster, kettle and all of the cutlery and crockery that you will need.

The dining area includes a large table to easily seat 8. The table can be extended.

The living area is spacious with a tv and an enclosed log fire for all of the ski chalet atmosphere.

There is a good sized double bedroom with built in wardrobes either side.

First floor double bedrooms 2 & 3:
There are 2 full size double bedrooms on the first floor, each with similarly spectacular views of Mt Blanc.

Bedroom 4:
The 4th bedroom has a double bed.

The downstairs bathroom has a bath, sink and bidet with an over-bath shower.
There is a separate toilet with handbaisin.

The upstairs shower room has an enclosed shower, toilet and sink.
