About this property

6 Bed Newly Renovated Holiday Home. This cottage/gite is in a town setting.

“Chez Anne & Simon” is a spacious traditional holiday home set in a 1.4 acre garden.
It is located in the town of Missillac, South Brittany.
It is ideal for family and friends looking to share a holiday, whether it be 2 or 3 couples with children sharing the same interests, brothers, sisters, cousins & grand-parents looking to spend quality time together or even a group of golf amateurs looking to make the most of nearby renowned Golf de La Bretesche 18 hole course at an affordable cost. We can welcome 12 to 15 people.

Throughout the renovation project, we have aimed to offer home from home comfort and maximise the space available to make our holiday home the perfect holiday destination for the entire family. It’s up to you whether you decide to venture out and about as there is lots to see and do in the area or simply relax and enjoy your surroundings.

The town of Missillac has a few bars & restaurants at walking distance.
Its best landmark by far is Chateau de La Bretesche with its Spa, Golf Course, Michelin-starred restaurant “Le Montaigu” and Brasserie “Le Club”.

We hope that at the end of their stay, our guests will go home thinking the place had a bit of “je ne sais quoi”.

The Owner Recommends

A bit of History

If you are interested in WW2 history, plan a visit to Le Grand Blockhaus in Batz-sur-Mer or le Musee de Saint Marcel in Malestroit.

Along the Coast...

The most beautiful beach by far is La Baule and the nearby towns of Pornichet, Le Pouliguen, Le Croisic, La Turballe, Piriac-sur-Mer and Penestin. You could also head towards the city of Vannes and enjoy a visit to the Morbihan Gulf. One of the most popular activities is to take a boat trip around the gulf from Vannes. Many of its 42 islands are owned by celebrities but the two largest, Île aux Moines and Île d’Arz, are favourite tourist destinations in summer.

Branfere Zoo

Branfere Zoo is set in beautiful surroundings and provides a great day out, only 25 minutes away by car. Branféré is a site dedicated to respecting nature a hundred leagues from the traditional zoo concept. Travel to the heart of a centuries-old botanical park and encounter 1000s of animals from the five continents, all roaming free.

Canoeing & biking

Located on the barrage of Arzal, 20 minute drive, the Au Gre du Vent leisure complex is situated between the sea and the Vilaine river. You prefer the sea? Discover the Gulf of Morbihan and the Guérande Peninsula in a sea kayak. Or perhaps you prefer the countryside? You have the choice between a trip in a boat which you can sail by yourself along the Vilaine to the charming village of La Roche-Bernard, bike tours or canoe-kayak outings on the river. There are packages to suit all types: individuals or groups, young or not so young, beginners or experienced.

Escal' Atlantique, Saint Nazaire

Come aboard the Escal’Atlantic, a life-size reconstructed transatlantic ocean liner, unique in Europe. In the 3500 square metres of exhibition space, atmosphere of legendary ships built in Saint-Nazaire is recreated: the Ile de France (1927), the Normandie (1935), the France (1962). Choose your cabin, stroll along the promenade deck, experience the heat and noise of the engine rooms… and prepare yourself for a rough ending to the voyage! Younger visitors can do the tour as the captain, a stowaway or a movie actress. The free games booklet makes the voyage a fascinating treasure hunt.

There are a few other castles within an hour radius, from the Ranrouet ruins (15 min away) to Suscinio (45 minutes), the castle of the Dukes of Brittany and the Nantes History Museum (1 hour).

Go-Karting

Go-Karting and Paintball in Solokart, Plesse, 40 min away.

Golf amateurs

Domaine de La Bretesche, across the road from us, is one of Brittany's best golf courses.

Horse Riding

Centre Equestre & Poney Club du Fano in Nivillac (15 min away) welcomes children aged 3 and over in a friendly environment.

Le Sentier des Daims

Fan of fairy-tales and legends, visit le Sentier des Daims in Frossay, an hour away by car.

Les Machines de l'Ile, Nantes

Les Machines de l’île are a totally unprecedented artistic project, some strange machines came to populate the Île de Nantes. After the Grand Éléphant, this is now the turn of a Manta Ray, a Sea Snake and of all kinds of incredible boats to take possession of the banks of the Loire River.

Markets & traditional towns

Local markets are perfect for picking up fresh local products in the nearby towns of La Roche-Bernard, Pontchateau, Redon. If you like traditional places, plan a trip to the towns of Guerande, Rochefort-en-Terre and La Gacilly for its arts & crafts shops and also outdoor photo exhibition running from June to September.

Monkey Forest in Saint Molf

At the heart of the Brière regional natural park is Monkey Forest adventure park, where zip wires and monkey bridges cross above a forest of slides, trampolines and go-karts. Monkey Forest is the biggest tree-top trail in the department of Loire-Atlantique. There are more than 200 structures, including 36 zip wires, spread across the 14 secure routes that cross the pinewood. Down on the ground, your quest for adventure can continue in a leisure park equipped with bouncy castles, a foot-golf course, a pedal go-kart track, a barefoot course, a BMX track...

Ocearium du Croisic and Aquarium de Vannes

Only 50 minutes away, don't miss the Ocearium du Croisic: feed the penguins, walk through the underwater tunnel and check out the sharks from Australia!! Aquarium de Vannes, 40 minutes away, is also a nice day out!

Parc d'Attractions Les Naudieres

If you fancy a bit of family fun, arrange a visit to Parc d'Attractions Les Naudieres, 40 minutes away from the house.

Planete Sauvage Safari

One hour away from the house, South of Nantes, we highly recommend a visit to Zoo Safari "Planete Sauvage" in Port-Saint-Pere. Set off on a 10km trail to discover the great, iconic mammals, in your own vehicle or on board a 4x4 bush truck with your guide. Also enjoy the Marine City where you can discover the great bottlenose dolphin.

Sacred Stones

Morbihan is rich in megalithic sites, nowhere more so than Locmariaquer. On the outskirts of this unremarkable village are three very impressive constructions, one of which, Le Grand Menhir, is the largest stone ever erected in prehistoric Europe. The town of Carnac is also known throughout the world for its unique rows of ancient standing stones: 3 fields contain around 3,000 aligned megaliths, which date from 4000BC.

Shopping fans

We would recommend La Baule and its posh boutiques, or the larger cities of Saint Nazaire, Nantes or Vannes.

Walled towns

The lovely walled town of Vannes is a must on any visit to Morbihan. Take a walk around the narrow, cobbled streets, through the medieval gates, before settling down for lunch at a café alongside the attractive marina. The town of Guérande follows closely and attracts lots of visitors during its medieval festival beginning of June.

We Stayed at Chez Anne and Simon in July ‘16 and the house was lovely. It has everything you could need for a comfortable base to explore the local area. The kitchen has all the equipment you would want, including a bottle opener, and there is no need to pack too many clothes as there is a washing machine, as well as a dishwasher, in the utility room. There is off road parking and the road is a cul-de-sac so it’s very quiet with enough room for another car, if your party has more than one. The house is clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom looks brand new and has a good shower. The garden is a lovely sun trap and the patio and BBQ were well used by us!
The house is in a fantastic location being a short walk into the village, which has lots of amenities. It is also really easy to jump in the car and get on the main road which will take you direct to Nantes in less than an hour.
The beaches are close by and beautiful, there is tonnes to see and do in the area. Chez Anne and Simon provided lots of info about the local attractions and if you need any more help then the tourist information is a 10 min walk from the house and they are very helpful.
All communications with the owners were great, easy to get in touch with and fast responses. They were also flexible on the arrival date which was brilliant for us.
All in all we had a great time on holiday and we don't think you could go far wrong with a stay at Chez Anne & Simon.

An excellent property in a lovely area. Close to the main road but very quiet. Very attentive owners who were a delight to deal with and kept in touch with us unobtrusively from the moment we booked. Lovely welcome pack at the house, great information pack for the surrounding areas. We would have no hesitation in recommending.
