|Why this location?||We live in an extremely peaceful location, the only sounds to be heard from the garden are from the local wildlife. This is the perfect place to come and unwind. Once your batteries are re-charged, you may wish to venture out a little. We are well placed for you to access lots of places of interest, including Chateaubriant with its newly opened swimming indoor/outdoor swimming complex; Rennes and Nantes, are both beautiful historic cities with plenty to keep everybody busy. Le Croisic with its harbour (cue seafood!); and La Baule with its chic restaurants and long sandy beach; are just over an hour and a half away.|
|Unique benefits of property||Set in two acres of garden, our property has plenty of space to let off steam or to find a quiet spot to relax in the sun.|
Surrounded by forests, we are ideally located to explore the area on foot or on two wheels. The immediate surrounding area is fairly flat, making it easy walking or cycling country
We stayed in Les Chaumieres Campagnardes with three families. We rented all three gites on the property, so not just the Croft, but also The Cottage, and the Lodge.
Our stay here was wonderful. We were here with 6 adults, 6 children and one big dog, but the gites and the property itself provided more than enough space for everyone. It was lovely to have the whole place to ourselves. Gary and Jenny also live on the property and were very patient with us, answering all our questions and being hugely helpful and fun to be around. The swimming pools were a huge hit with the kids. The garden was beautiful. There was plenty seating outside.
On the first night, Gary and Jenny pointed us to a pizza and crepe place situated at the Forge Neuve. We went back 3 more times: the restaurant is pretty great, but there are a number of walking paths there that were just fabulous: we ended up hiking all of them. Just challenging enough for us, very beautiful scenery, and all the kids (age 4 - 7) were able to complete the hikes (although we did cut up the longest hike in 2 separate hikes).
Two points to take into consideration: there were quite a few flies during our stay. Bring flypaper! That really helped us. Also, the Lodge has a lot of bedrooms, but the living space is a bit smallish for so many people. For a larger family, i felt the Croft was the most suitable (so we did it the wrong way around, as we put the largest family in the lodge, since there were more bedrooms there)
We had a fantastic time at this property , our hosts couldn't do enough for us ,the property we stayed at was full of rural French character and was so peaceful and tranquil ,a beautiful part of the region with loads to do ( if you wanted) on your doorstep, the nearest town to us was Chateaubriant 15 minutes away by car which was quaint with loads of history but having good modern facilities as well . We would recommend anyone to stay at this property and can assure you that you'll have a fantastic time and recharge you batteries !!!! Regarding your hosts they are a fantastic couple ,very down to earth and nothing is to much trouble !!! We were treated like family
Thank you for your excellent review. Super guests, see you again soon, we hope!
