After spending many happy holidays in France we decided to to take the plunge and move here. We live in a beautifully quiet rural part of France, which is no distance from the many tourist attractions of Brittany and the Loire Valley.

|Why this location?||Ideally placed between Nantes and Rennes (both in the top 5 best cities in France) as well as being convenient to the beaches of Loire Atlantique and Southern Brittany. Easy access to ferry terminals and airports.
Conversion work on the gite was completed in 2016. It’s in a very tranquil location on the edge of the village of Rougé and its facilities: 2 bakeries, bar, butcher, mini-market and pharmacy. A field’s width from the gite is the Voie Verte cyclepath [the old railway line] which provides a safe 8 km route to the historic town of Chateaubriant. Driving there is only slightly longer [10km] – for a choice of supermarkets, restaurants and tourist/leisure activities.
As well as its historic chateau, Chateaubriant boasts an Olympic-size swimming pool and a newly-built water activity facility. In Rougé there is an equestrian centre, a small skateboard park and a fun-golf site [which also has bikes to rent]. Nine hole golf course 16kms.
|Unique benefits of property||Dog-friendly private garden. Superb rural location but only 20 minutes from N137 north-south highway (Saint-Malo - Bordeaux)|
Chateaubriant (France's leading beef producing area) has a thriving market every Wednesday. Further south, Ancenis, on the banks of the Loire ( the garden of France), hosts a market on Thursdays and Saturdays.
No trip to the area is complete without a visit to Les Machines de l'Isle - home of Nantes' famous mechanical Elephant and other wonderful creations. Also near Nantes is the renowned safari park Planete Sauvage. Just over the border in Brittany are the picturesque communes of La Roche-Bernard and Rochefort-en-Terre, both Petites Cités de Caractère.
The Loire region is renowned for its wine. South of Nantes is Muscadet country, centred around Vallet and Clisson. Angers is home to Anjou wine, including the dry Savennières and the sweet dessert wine Coteaux du Layon. Follow the river Loire eastwards to taste fine Chinon and Saumur.
Chateaubriant has an Olympic-size swimming pool and a new indoor/outdoor aquatic centre. For the more adventurous Nozay, (30 kms) has a high-cable operated Teleski wakeboard/skiing lake.
