I fell in love with France as a teenager and nothing has changed since then!
|Year property purchased||1997|
|Why this location?||Love the area, gentle rural countryside and views, proximity to historic towns of Angers, Le Mans and Tours.|
|Unique benefits of property||Peace, rural peace. Three properties, none of which overlook each other and offer privacy and country views. A gorgeous 12 metre swimming pool, with full height pool cover and seating area around it. Heated and spotless.|
Don’t miss Chateau de-la-Chatonniere, Chateau Rivau and – wacky – new gardens at Parc Monpassant-de-Bois in Allonnes – comes with golf carts for driving around in!
Recommendation No 1 can only be the La Licorne Restaurant at Fontevraud – the langoustines are amazing!
An excellent evening market. A leisurely walk around the stalls in the evening, local wines and delicacies, music and entertainment. The gourmet market in Bourgueil is a good evening out!
A very lively market each Sunday morning, situated just by the chateau. Fish, meat, organic vegetables and more!
Relaxing environment, swimming, cycling, walking, chateau and garden visits. Midway between Angers, Tours and Le Mans.
The best. Lunch at L’Orangerie in Saumur Château grounds and after a day in the life of a gite owner buying supplies and testing the wines of Guy Delanoue – superb!
Restaurant musts – The Moulin Bleu just outside Bourgueil – 10/10. The brochet (pike) was amazing. Les Forges and the Auberge in Place St Pierre both worth a visit and we'd recommend the three cheese gallette at the Rille Lac Crepe.
Several good restaurants within easy reach with a good variety of price ranges.
And I recommend Doue Zoo, feeding those donkeys, the lake at Rille and Villandry and that’s my recommendation for all you holiday people
A great stay at The Grange! It is in a beautiful part of France - lots of castles, markets etc to explore. It is a comfortable, relaxing cottage.in picturesque surroundings. The kids loved the pool and garden
The bedrooms are spacious and the cottage accommodated 5 of us (2 adults and 3 kids aged 9, 11 and 13 yrs) comfortably
Jean and Mike are friendly hosts and the welcome basket was much appreciated
We would all highly recommend it :)
Our third visit to this wonderful gite, owned by the welcoming Mike and Jean. We have stayed in the Grange which has its own garden, spacious bedrooms (loads of floor space which is useful in kids rooms), plenty of sofa space for the evenings, and incredible views. The pool is beautiful and clean with a cover over it and amazing views. We tried the ropes in trees at Rille which were brilliant, far better than similar equivalents in the UK due to the lovely lakeside location. A favourite place to eat is the Guingette at Lac Des Hommes. It feels like a home from home for us as we have a lovely welcome and there are all the facilities we need such as washing machine, bikes you can borrow for an hour for a quick ride to get bread etc. We wholly recommend!
This is our second stay at The Grange. We absolutely love it, lots to see and do around the area and the whole site is very family friendly; our daughter loves the swimming pool and the animals. The hosts, Jean and Mike, are fantastic. We will definitely be having many more family holidays here over the years!
Thank you. Here's to more happy family times with you all.
Really fabulous holiday cottage in a great location, near to the village so you can cycle or walk there where there is a shop, pub and bread shop. Cycles to borrow so we went to the local lake too. The pool is brilliant and has a cover so we could even use when there was a little rain. Jean and Mike are the perfect hosts, there when you need them but not invasive. they have loads of good tips on places to go and will book in advance for you. We visited Saumur, Langeais and the vineyards. I would recommend to anyone a stay here.
I think I missed your review as it was during a busy high seaston, but thank you for such a lovely review.
