About this property

Stylish Period Cottage, Heated Pool, Grounds. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Vine House is the self contained wing of an 18th century Loire manor house.
It is set approx 2 kms from the nearest village in open countryside  at the end of a small lane with no through traffic . The property sits in 4 acres of grounds with lots of different areas for enjoying both sun and shade.

The lovely heated pool has a decked surround and is open from mid May to September inclusive. Vine House is ideal for a holiday whatever the season - the thick stone walls keep it warm in Winter and cool in Summer. We have decorated, furnished and equipped the cottage as a home from home with generous squidgy sofas, plenty of cushions and throws, quality Egyptian cotton bed linens, towels and bathrobes.
There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bath/shower rooms and space and facilities for 6 in comfort.
An ideal base for a summer holiday with many chateaux, historical towns and vineyards in easy reach but also  perfect for an out of season get away from it all, with lovely countryside, empty roads, log burner and peace and quiet.
We have been welcoming guests since 2003 and are delighted that  many have returned over the years.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Wendy Chapman

We moved here from London in Jan 2003 & opened to our first guests in May after 5 mths of non-stop renovations. We had been holidaying in this area for many years & decided to have a change of lifestyle whilst we were still young enough!! It is a lovely area with something for everyone. Peter is a passionate cook & we offer table d'hote 4 eves a week, much appreciated as guests have no need to drive! I love sewing & interiors & have made most of the furnishings for Vine House & Manor myself.

Year property purchased 2003
Why this location? We are situated in quiet, peaceful countryside at the end of a lane with no through traffic. Surrounded by fields and our own grounds with plentiful wildlife including hares, deer, red squirrels and over 100 species of birds including resident Little Owls, Tawny Owls and Barn Owls. However, we are only 25 minutes drive from the vibrant, historic city of Angers and 50 minutes from Saumur. 20 minutes south is the majestic River Loire, the last reamaining 'sauvage' river in Europe.
Unique benefits of property Vine House offers the best of both worlds - it is fully equipped for self catering but guests can opt for the Le Bignon breakfast buffet served every morning and/or our fabulous 3 course dinners, served 4 evenings a week, for those times when they feel like extra pampering. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vine House. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and the pool was exactly what we needed in the summer heat. Our 3 year old loved the pool and extensive grounds, spotting lizards on the decking and frogs in the pond. Peter and Wendy were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The meal we had in the main house was a real highlight of the holiday. The location of the property is great for exploring the local area and there are lots of delicious bakeries nearby. We would highly recommend Vine House.

A beautiful, well equipped and comfortable cottage attached to historic manor house. Crisp white sheets and big fluffy towels; dressing gowns, pool towels - everything clean and tidy and flowers in every room. Peter and Wendy are great hosts, helpful and friendly with lots of ideas for days out. Recommend Le Bignon to all, lovely setting and the pool was great.
