Lovely property in supurb location with pool . This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Chantepierre (which translates to Singing Stones) is a beautifully presented traditional French longere (a long house). It provides exceptionally spacious accommodation that blends its original 100-year-old charm and character with contemporary living.

The house is very well equipped for families and individuals, offering flexible accommodation that can comfortably sleep 8 people, with a child's cot available.

The property nestles in its own private one-acre garden which is enclosed with trees, shrubs and fencing and has a lovely 10 x 5m pool. NEW FOR 2020 HEATED POOL.

It is situated less than 1km from the centre of the village of Meigne le Vicomte which offers a small shop and bar. The bustling market town of Noyant is just 7km away, with the historic and fashionable chateaux town of Saumur, on the banks of the River Loire, a 40 km (30 minutes) drive.

Kitchen and dining

Accessed from either external stable doors or from the entrance hall is a generous and well equipped kitchen. It features a gas and electric range cooker, a large fridge, built-in microwave oven, and dishwasher. There is a table which comfortably seats six and the kitchen also features a traditional log burner which is lovely in the cooler winter months.

In the kitchen a door takes you into a well-equipped utility room. This has a washing machine, drying lines, a freezer, and second fridge. High level cupboards provide extra storage and also contain a range of cleaning and utility materials.

Living rooms

From the kitchen is the spacious open plan living room with lounge and dining area.

The heart of this lovely spacious home, it features a small ‘quiet’ reading area by the wooburner fireplace, a dining area that has a table capable of seating up to ten people, and a comfortable lounge area with deep sofas and chairs.

There is a 40" Plasma tv, UK satellite channels, dvd player, and cd hi-fi system.
Doors open onto the garden from both the dining and lounge areas. 
There is also a seating/relaxing area on the mezzanine floor and the hallway features a sofa and table

In the hallway is the wi-fi box. There is free wi-fi for guests.


Off the living room is the family/guest suite, which has doors opening onto the garden. The suite is well furnished with a king size bed, lounge/dressing area, and a separate en suite shower room and toilet.

From this room, a staircase takes you up to a private mezzanine floor which features a twin bedroom.

Back in the main part of the house, stairs from the living room lead up to the first floor galleried landing where there is access to a charming twin/triple bedroom. This has a ¾ door access due to the low beams, and features a 4’ double bed and a matching single bed.

A corridor from the mezzanine floor leads to the large master bedroom featuring a king size bed, wardrobe, and lovely large family 'country' bathroom.


As well as the fabulous downstairs walk-in shower/wet room with wc and wash basin, Chantepierre has a lovely country-style bathroom with feature claw-bath with over French shower, washbasin and wc. This is accessed from the upstairs corridor, and serves the master bedroom and twin/triple room. In the guest suite, there is an en suite shower and wc.


Chantepierre has a small indoor children’s games room which is accessed from the garage. This has a child’s football table, and air hockey table. 

On the mezzanine floor is another sofa/relaxation area. 

Downstairs is a good range of toys and games for all ages, including Lego and a train set.

The lounge features a 40” Plasma tv with UK satellite, dvd, and cd player, and there are plenty of films, books and cds provided for your entertainment. There is also an iPod dock/speaker system located in the kitchen.

There is free wi-fi for guests.

Outside, there is plenty of play equipment and a fabulous, fully enclosed pool.

Garden and outside

Chantepierre’s private and fully enclosed south facing one-acre garden features wonderful shaded tree areas as well as an expanse of open lawns. 

Its 10 x 5m heated swimming pool (maximum depth 1.5m) has been recently relined for and has an electric cover with gated fencing for extra peace of mind.  

The garden also features a 13’ trampoline, swings and indoor/outdoor table tennis. There is plenty of outdoor furniture with seated areas dotted around the garden and the pool, and a large charcoal bbq.

Parking and garages

The property is accessed from a small lane that leads to a gated entrance. To the front of the property, there is a car port and plenty of space for private car parking. There is also a lockable barn/garage which can be used with the owners' permission.

Chantepierre was purchased by the owners in 2005 and is enjoyed by them as a holiday home that they also share with others. It has therefore been lovingly maintained and its fantastic features improved. It is a place where guests can enjoy the best that this magnificent region has to offer; or to simply relax and do nothing. Everything put into Chantepierre and its fabulous garden is done to provide a truly enjoyable stay.

Why this location? The Loire Valley is one of the most popular and historic regions of France. It is easily accessible by car, train, or plane and, being a UNESCO area of outstanding beauty, it boasts some of the most glorious chateaux, gardens, and vineyards.
The climate in the Loire Valley brings sunshine and some rain which makes the region so lush. In the summer months temperatures can rise to mid-30-degrees with spring being mild and the winter months often bringing snow. With two wood-burning stoves (as well as central heating) Chantepierre is as welcoming in the winter as it is in the peak summer months.

Just loved staying here. The pool and homely extras were perfect.
The pictures are just like it is and a true reflection.
Lovely English speaking neighbours to welcome and help if you need.
Remote so you need a car, but there are plenty of sized bikes in the shed to borrow.

Chantepierre was perfect for our family holiday, so much so we have already booked again for next year!

From the warm welcome on arrival by Pam and Phil who live in the next house along the lane (but secluded from Chantepierre) making sure you know all about the property and the local amenities to the local market in Noyant and the small village shop/bar in Meigne-le-Vicomte where the locals make you feel welcome this was everything we needed from our family holiday.

The owner (Richard) has made sure that the house is well set up and kitted out to a high standard ensuring that there are enough things for all ages to engage with from table tennis to swings, trampoline, football, Petanque and obviously swimming.

The location is perfect for those wanting a self contained holiday and situated ideally for exploring the local areas around Saumur, Tours, La Flèche & Chateau-du-Loir.

The property was extraordinarily well presented, the attention to detail in predicting the needs of guests very impressive.

The pool was wonderful set in a very well maintained garden with lots of space to enjoy lots of games.

The house bicycles were well used to explore and bring back daily provisions.

Evening with a BBQ and a bottle of wine, we could not have wanted for more.

Highly recommended!
