We came over to France in 2007 looking for a place that we could call home and after exploring a large part of France we fell in love with the "Loire" so once the decision was made we searched for a property that we could convert into a lovely home for us and to provide some holiday accommodation so that others can come and share this part of France with us. As they say the rest is history as we have enjoyed every minute of our life here and all the guests that have passed through our doors.
|Year property purchased||2007|
|Why this location?||Our farmhouse sits surrounded by farmland in a rural and peaceful location with views of the countryside and plenty of country lanes to explore by foot or cycle and with the added benefit that the majority of the popular attractions of this part of the Loire are within a short distance from the farmhouse, such as chateaux, musuems, parcs, troglodytes, lakes, swimming, amusement parcs, rivers, fishing, canoeing, horse riding, wine tours, cycle paths, zoo, karting and golf. The location, area and the farmhouse make this a perfect holiday spot for families and couples to come and totally relax in the lovely surroundings or participate in the many attractions that are close by.
Loire is famous for it's wines and wine trails start from our farmhouse, these will allow you to discover our beautiful villages and take in a tour or two at a vineyard.

We are so glad we discovered Le Vieux Logis! The accommodation is much more spacious than we'd envisaged from the photos and was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, both inside and out. I loved having a table tennis table in the garden! Julie and Keith were very welcoming and friendly and throughout our stay were on hand for us (whilst being unobtrusive), whether for advice on the local area or if we just fancied a chat on the patio! They were also very generous with gifts from their kitchen garden, which was a lovely touch. There's lots to see and do in the local rural surroundings and in the nearby towns. The Bioparc (zoo) at Doué La Fontaine is impressive, as are the local towns and their chateaux - Montreuil-Bellay, Saumur, Brézé, Chinon and many others within an hour's drive. The Loire and its tributaries provide some picturesque riverside villages and picnic spots and the opportunity for walks or leisurely boat trips. We'll definitely be wanting to re-visit both the region and this lovely gite again at some point soon!
