We have holidayed in France for more than 35 years, and love the Loire. We eventually decided to take early retirement and move here and have not regretted a single minute.
|Year property purchased||2016|
|Why this location?||The property has all you could want, beautiful countryside, loads of trees and animal life, plenty of space, peace and tranquility. Did we mention the wonderful vineyards, châteaux, food and drink (and Le Mans!!).|
|Unique benefits of property||Surrounded by woodland and wildlife, with plenty of space. Exceptionally quiet but local to all the châteaux, vineyards and attractions of the Loire Valley.|
A Logis de France with an excellent restaurant serving local cuisine at lunchtime and evenings. Dogs are welcome.
A relais routier about 10 minutes' away, offering an exceptionally good 4-course "menu ouvrier" (workman's lunch) at 12.90 Euros, including wine and cider.
The nearest large town, but bustling with restaurants, cafés and shops. There are several markets in different parts of the city, and you can take boat trips along the Loire.
If you are looking for a home from home location in the peace and quiet - then look no further.
This beautiful gite is set in large grounds, with its own large garden where you can relax and rest in comfort. Perfectly located for exploring the vineyards and chateaux of the Loire Valley. We would love to go back.
The only noise to disturb you are the owls, deer and wild boar on an evening and night. If you like stargazing then you will benefit from the dark skies and swathe of stars visible form the garden.
The beds are comfortable and meant we all slept well and the bedrooms spacious and well furnished, the same can be said of the bathroom and en suite, in fact the whole property.
The hosts Simon and Jackie have paid exceptional attention to detail to ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your holiday. They supply a welcome pack of a few things to get you started - tea, coffee etc. We made use of the opportunity to have some shopping done for us prior to arrival, meaning that our first two days were sorted from a food point of view. As intended by our hosts this meant we could arrive and relax, so would recommend others take advantage of this service too. Completely unobtrusive, they are also available to help with queries and directions.
We enjoyed the table tennis, badminton and barbecue and other games (indoor and out) are also provided as is television and wifi.
Excellent all round.
A great review, thank you so much. We're always pleased when our guests can relax, have fun and just generally enjoy things, rather than feeling like you need another holiday to get over this one! We try really hard to ensure that everyone has the same experience, and always look forward to seeing them again.
Excellent well thought out and equipped gate. Simon and Jackie were fantastic and provided the most wonderful welcome basket with a good mixture of useful essentials and local treats. The information that was provided in the site on the surrounding actives, places to visit - including maps and routes to the nearest supermarket was all invaluable.
i would definitely recommend the gite to friends and family. Even though we were not able to use them, the table tennis table, badminton set, swing ball etc. were in pristine condition and would have been fun for more able people.
The site itself was very comfortably and thoughtfully furnished and able to support people with restricted mobility in the downstairs bedroom with ensuite shower room. The lounge was excellent and easily sat six adults with a cosy log burner.
The local village was interesting with a friendly small supermarket and locals who were welcoming and stopped to chat.
Overall an excellent venue and really good value.
Thank you for such a great review. We have tried to think of everything our guests would need, based on our own experiences of holidaying in France for over 35 years. We're also very pleased that you found the gite worked for people with restricted mobility, as this was one of the main things we set out to do. We look forward to meeting you all (plus friends and family) again in the future.
