Whether you are travelling as a family, couples or a group of friends, Les Deux Cèdres offers a lovely holiday home with everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay, as well as a perfect location from which you can explore the many delights of the area within the Loire-Anjou-Touraine National park which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.

Les Deux Cèdres is a stylish and sympathetically renovated 19th century tufeau stone house. It is situated at the edge of the lovely riverside village of Les-Rosiers-sur-Loire, with all the amenities you will need for a perfect home-from-home holiday experience.

The house is beautifully decorated and furnished and has a perfect mix of original features and modern comforts. It is light and airy with high ceilings, spacious kitchen and living spaces, 3 bedrooms, family bathroom, laundry room as well a reading room with a desk and wi-fi connection.

Outside you can enjoy the 5x10m heated swimming pool with 2 terraces to relax and dine alfresco.



Kitchen and dining

There is a spacious bespoke painted oak kitchen with double aspect windows and a door to the terrace and gardens. There is a large retro style Smeg cooker with gas hobs and a large electric oven with a rotisserie fitting. There is an attractive Villeroy and Boch ceramic double sink and a wine cooler fridge.

The kitchen is suitably equipped with all appliances, utensils, tableware and gadgets you might need to prepare a gourmet supper. There is ample work space for food preparation and storage.

Living rooms

The living room and dining area is a light and spacious open plan room, approximately 37.5 sq. metres. The room features 2 large double-glazed windows and has a pretty wood burning stove and stone tiled floors.

The living space includes a sofa and armchairs as well as a coffee-table, buffet cabinet, a vitrine, a drinks cabinet, a cd player and a wall mounted TV.

There is a large French style dining table and chairs which can accommodate 6 people comfortably. Leading off the living space is a downstairs toilet and an entrance hall with double frenchdoors and steps leading to the front terrace and garden.


There are 3 bedrooms.

There is a large master bedroom on the ground floor with double size bed and a spacious en suite shower room with a double washbasin. The room is beautifully decorated and furnished and has 2 elegant double-glazed windows with views to the garden. It has an inbuilt French style wardrobe.

On the first floor, there is a second large bedroom with exposed beams, an en suite shower room and a single washbasin. This room has a distinctive French style oak king size bed and other bedroom furniture.

Also, on the first floor there is a third bedroom with exposed beams. This room has 2 French style single beds, a double chest of drawers, storage space and an occasional chair.


On the first floor is a light and spacious bathroom with beams. There is a clawfoot freestanding bathtub, toilet, a distinctive granite top washbasin and a Velux window.


The property benefits from oil fired central heating. There is also a woodburner for use in the winter. There are 2 electric hot water tanks, one on each floor. There is a heated towel rail in the en suite shower room in the ground floor master bedroom.


High speed wi-fi is available throughout the house. There is a smart tv that is wall mounted with reception of French TV and some English channels. There is a DVD player with a small selection of DVDs.

There is a cd player and a radio.
There is a selection of card and family board games and racket/ball games for the garden.

Garden and outside

The house and garden are surrounded partly by a wall and partly by a fence with hedges. Entrance is through gates to ensure security and privacy. The entrance to the property is through a long drive which has been recently gravelled. The mature garden within a plot of half an acre, has 2 cedar trees and other mature trees and shrubs.

The new heated swimming pool measuring 10m by 5 m with saline treatment which offers a better bathing experience than chlorine. It has an electric safety cover with a remote control. There is a travertine terrace surrounding the pool for relaxation and sunbathing. There is also another terrace with a large table with a granite top and seating for 6 people. There is an ENO gas plancha.

There is a further small seating area with a bistro table and 2 chairs in a gravelled area under the trees.

The area around the pool has been recently landscaped with bushes and roses.

The long drive offers enough parking space for 3.

I retired from hospital medicine in 2015 and together with my partner Sharon, sought a retirement project to fulfil our interests. We love travelling in France but always returned to the Loire valley because of its ease of access from our home in Berkshire, its rich cultural heritage, gastronomy, climate and landscapes. After 3-year search, we found our ideal property in this lovely riverside village.

Why this location? Les Rosiers sur Loire is a lively riverside village with bakeries, butchers, gourmet shop, and many restaurants. There are options to eat locally or cook your own meals using fresh local produce from the village or markets. It is on a picturesque river road with link to Angers, Saumur and Tours. The bridge across the Loire to Gennes provides a link to the south bank with picturesque villages, wineries and troglodyte caves and settlements. The railway station is on the line from Saumur to Angers with good links to Nantes or Tours, Paris and beyond. The motorway is 10 minutes from the village and provides a fast link to ports, airports and to Paris. It is therefore an ideal site from which to explore the regions of Anjou, Saumur and Touraine with its varied attractions. These are too numerous to list but many are within an hour’s drive such as Chateaux, other historic buildings, vineyards, gastronomy, outdoor activities, and natural attractions. The location is within the national park.

Arts and crafts: exhibition of painters and crafts and noted local festival in the summer.
Au Val de Loire excellent for dinner.

Rouge Bistro good local cuisine with weekend lunchtime buffet
In Gennes: L’Aubergade excellent for dinner.

Les Deux Cedres is a glorious house on the outskirts of a small village. The property is maintained and furnished to the highest standards. I would recommend it to young and older families and to a group of 4-6 people.
The village and nearby towns have good-to- excellent cuisine.
A car is required, however, to get around. There is a small and basic local supermarket with better supermarkets located between 4 and 10 kms away.
The weather during our stay (first 2 weeks of August) was varied with average temp between 19 and 23 C.
Overall, a wonderful stay with no hesitation to recommend.
