About this property

Stone Cottage beside an 11th Century Watermill . This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

The gite, part of an 11th century mill, nestles between a 15th century manor house and a small river (category 1, trout-fishing). Entirely renovated, it is on one level, opening to a very sunny terrace.
 
It is a cheerful place, furnished and decorated with antiques, with a granite fireplace and offers self-catering accommodation for 2 in great comfort (one 1,40m double-bed) with all amenities: dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and dryer, gas-fired central heating for out-of-season rentals. Enclosed yard and parking. No smoking.
 
No supplements. Everything is included. Final cleaning is offered at 50€ and wood for the insert at cost. Your bed will be made on arrival.

We have been awarded 4 stars by the tourist board.

Cottage/Gite

Kitchen and dining

There is a full kitchen, separate from the dining-room. It opens on to the terrace outside. It has a refrigerator (freezer in the barn next door), small oven and microwave and a dishwasher.

Living rooms

The living/dining-room has a sofa and arm-chair, a comfortable dining-table for 4 or 6, a tv with dvd reader and a bookcase with books and local information. Also opens on to the terrace outside.

Bedrooms

One large, comfortable bedroom, with a double bed, table and chairs and a large French armoire.

Bathrooms

Luxury bathroom, decorated with "Faience des Rairies" tiles, with a bathtub, and shower in the bathtub. We provide bath robes. Separate wc.

Heating

Very comfortable under-floor heating. The cost of heating is included.
There is also an insert for a cheerful fire, opening both on the kitchen and the dining-room. Wood is provided and sold at cost.

Entertainment

Tv (no satellite tv). Cd and dvd reader.
Internet access (included).

Garden and outside

Terrace with outside table and chairs. Small bbq.The guests are welcome to take their meals or drinks to the table on the bridge, or cross the bridge to take a walk along the river..
Outside bench and folding chairs with parasol.
Quiet and peaceful environment.

Parking and garages

One parking space at the entrance of the property. The gate can be locked at night if requested.

Visitor suitability

The gite is suitable for a single person, or a couple.
Babies are welcome before they can walk (unfenced river).
The whole gite is on ground-floor level (one step for the utility room).

About the Owner/Advertiser, Ms Sylvaine Cannon

I am running this as a hobby to share (what I believe to be) an ideal location to enjoy peace, quiet and the babbling of a brook in a preserved environment.

Year property purchased 1990
Why this location? The river and the waterfall were a decisive factor in choosing the Mill, along with its long history.
Unique benefits of property As you might have guessed, we are not the place to choose for night-clubs, or a next-door supermarket, but exploring the area will provide wonderful discoveries and you'll see stars in the sky at night as we are in one of the few protected zones in France where you can look up and admire the show!
