The cottage is just a few minute drive from the nearest town of Ernee and half an hour from larger towns of Laval, Mayenne or Fougeres, which all contain the usual amenities. There are also many places of interest for families in the surrounding area.
There is a large decked area at the back of the property with modern dining furniture for six, which is ideal for relaxing and eating al fresco. In summer it has sunshine and shaded areas throughout most of the day.
There is a gravelled off-road parking area next to the cottage.
The cottage is ideal for couples or families. However it does have steps at the front and a staircase inside so is not ideal for some guests with mobility difficulties.
Less than an hour's drive away is Chateau Gontier, included in a recent guide to the top 100 most beautiful destinations in France, with its old town and impressive Convent of the Ursulines. Vitré is a another charming ancient town with half-timbered houses and an imposing medieval chateau.
A short drive west from the cottage takes you to Fougeres, which proudly boasts the largest medieval chateau of its kind in Europe... not to be missed.
Jublains, to the east of Mayenne, is the largest Gallo Roman site open to the public in the West of France and features a temple, fortress, thermal baths, theatre, as well as a museum.
The town of Mayenne, 30 minutes away, sits on the beautiful Mayenne river which offers hundreds of great fishing locations. It has a chateau and it's an angler's paradise but you can also horse ride, cycle or just amble along by the water's edge.
For motorsport fans, we're only about 90 minutes drive from the world-famous racing circuit at Le Mans, while motocross fans from around the world will flock to our local town of Ernee in 2015 for the Motocross Des Nations.
We had a lovely stay at La Cachette for 5 days. Beautifully renovated and furnished. Set in an idyllic country lane neighbouring a working farm. Local town with all amenities just a short distance away, in a lovely part of the country. We would definitely stay here again.
La Cachette is a luxurious rental perfect for couples and families alike. It is beautifully maintained throughout. From the tasteful decor and beautiful traditional furnishings to the fluffy white towels and top quality hairdryer; everything about this cottage makes for a very relaxing break .The cottage is deceptively spacious with a bathroom for each bedroom - great for getting ready in the mornings (and all three showers are superb) . Everything you need is to hand from sewing kit and string to ice blocks and cool bag! There are even English DVDs and family games.
The location is excellent for families with plenty to do - from the great swimming complex at Laval (L'Aquabulle) to the many local parks. Some have a beach, if you don't want to take the longer journey to the sea. We loved the Base de loisirs at La Ferte Mace. There is also a lovely English tea room (Time for Tea) nearby and the picturesque town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, which is great for traditional shopping and eating out. Plenty of large supermarkets nearby for food, essentials and fuel. Excellent communication from vendors throughout booking. A superb holiday location - we will definitely be recommending to friends.
We stayed at La Cachette in May for a weeks holiday it was very enjoyable. The cottage was well equipped clean and very relaxing. It is a newly refurbished modern cottage that served our every need. It's size is very deceiving as it was much more spacious than we had anticipated and the photographs do not do it justice. There were plenty of local towns and villages to visit each with their own character. There were plenty of things to do for the children and we will definitely return again as we could not fit them all into one week. The area is a must for walkers or cyclists and we would like to return with our bikes to explore the area further.
We would recommend this cottage to anyone.
