About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Tracy Whelan

Martin & Tracy wanted to settle in Europe after 16 years in the Middle East and France was the most attractive option. We've now lived here for a few years and very much enjoy the french way of life, and we know this is one of things that holidaymakers also enjoy when they visit. We have 3 dogs and a cat and live in the next village over from Colombiers-du-Plessis.

Year property purchased 2014
Why this location? We picked this area of France because of the lush, green scenery which is what we missed most when we lived in the Middle East. We love the different seasons and the good mix of weather and temperatures that we get in the Mayenne. It's a great place to explore the north-west of France from, with its landmarks such as Mont St Michel and outdoor activities, with horse riding, cycling and fishing being particularly prevalent. And of course the historical sites from World War II such as the normandy beaches and the World War II cemeteries. It has good access to toll-roads and motorways if you want to drop further south and visit the Chateaux of the Loire Valley.
Unique benefits of property It's recently renovated and redecorated and has all the facilities that enable you to have a good holiday. It has a lovely sunny terrace for outdoor eating and sampling French food and wine.

The Owner Recommends

The Mayenne

With easy access from the cottage to the larger towns of Laval, Fougeres and Mayenne there are many things to occupy you and the family. For motor enthusiasts Le Mans is only an hour away and runs a year round programme of activities. French villages are also known for holding regular activities such as the music festival, Au Foin De La Rue, which is held in the nearby village of St. Denis De Gastines in July each year.
