|Why this location?||La Sence is ideally situated amongst rolling farmland and apple orchards, but is close to shops, banks and restaurants. The perfect location.|
|Unique benefits of property||La Sence is a lovingly restored stone cottage which had been neglected for many years. The charm and character still remains with the oak beams and wooden floors which have been blended with the more modern features. The cottage is now a comfortable and cosy place to relax and enjoy.|
A lovely genteel spa town which has many bars and restaurants, a casino overlooking a lake with pedalos, a spa centre for massages and a lovely forest area with high wire walks. The chateau stands up high in the old town and provides great views of the surrounding countryside.
Mayenne is a lovely old town with a walled chateau, many small winding streets with bars and restaurants and the River La Mayenne running through it. There are boat trips along the river and a firework display every 14th July to celebrate Bastille day. The former tow paths provide a great way to see the river and stretch for miles. During the summer months there are alot of exhibitions and entertainment. The local Tourist Information Centre will have up to date information.
This medieval walled town has alot of character with the old stone and half timbered houses, cobbled streets and small squares. The old remains of chateau still stand at the top of the town and commands a great vista over the surrounding countryside. During the summer months, the grounds of the chateau are host to jousting, re-enactment battles and plays.
A great favourite, this old walled town is steeped in history. The cobbled streets with grand stone houses are home to a variety of bars, restaurants and boutiques. There are a wide variety of seafood restaurants nestling against the stone walls where an array of local produce can be sampled. There are wide golden beaches which stretch for miles, a saltwater swimming pool and a fort which is accessible at low tide. Definately worth a visit.
This medieval town is situated on the Brittany/Mayenne border. The walled chateau has a moat and is the centre for the summer exhibitions and entertainment in Fougeres. The narrow cobbled streets have numerous bars, restaurants and shops. A lovely town with lots to see and a great atmosphere.
What a fantastic gite - the best we've ever stayed in in 15 years holidaying in France. Big rooms with loads of space, well furnished and very clean. The bedroom, particularly, was very nice, with separate shower room/WC and a walk-in wardrobe/closet. There is even a small room with loads of books and a desk. The owners were very welcoming and showed us where everything was. The location was very rural and peaceful, just what we needed, with a small shop in the next village a few kilometres away. There is a large supermarket just outside Domfront.
The owners of the gite gave us a large book which contained loads of useful information and leaflets on local attractions including a handwritten recommendation by a previous guest about a restaurant near Mayenne, the Beau Rivage, which we visited and weren't disappointed.
Overall, a very pleasant stay, Grace and Dean have set the benchmark high with their gite and we would highly recommend staying there without any hesitation.
