Saint Hilaire du Harcouet every Wednesday morning. The largest and best market in the area. Well worth a visit.
About 18 km from La Blanchardiere.
We stayed in La blanchardiere for a week from 28th September. Craig and Sue made us very welcome and gave us lots of information about the surrounding area and cheap places to eat. Although the week was quite wet, we made the most of it and visited many places. The fishing was good, although the fish are mostly very small, I would say you are garuanteed to catch something. The gite was cosy and had everything we needed, only down side is the stairs are very steep. There is plenty of wildlife around the gite, including ducks, deer and weasels that we saw.
This is a perect gite for a couple and very very reasonably priced. we will return again in the future.
Thank you Craig and Sue
Thank you very much for your review and we look forward to welcoming you again.
Amazing gite in a perfect setting, peaceful with a lovely lake with plenty of fish. We had a very relaxing time in the gardens, fishing and reading, while listening to the wide variety of birds. If you like star gazing the night skies are wonderful. Gite was well furnished, clean and comfortable. Craig and Sue have lots of ideas for places to visit and information on shopping and eating out. Lots of good food available locally. Highly recommended and on our list for next year.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are always over the moon when people have enjoyed their holiday here, we look forward to seeing you again next year xx
We were looking for a gite to stay in for our 20th Wedding Anniversary, somewhere quiet, restful & beautiful.... La Blanchardiere was perfect. Craig & Sue were lovely, welcoming & helpful. The peaceful setting & beautiful grounds really made our week away something special. Sitting beside the lake watching swallows & later bats swooping for insects while enjoying a tipple or two finished each day off wonderfully!! Oh & being welcomed by the ducks (we named them Thelma & Louise) every time we sat outside was amusing & something we looked forward too.
Spent our days exploring the local area, Ambrières les vallées was lovely, Mayenne' s chateaux was well worth a trip. Craig recommended several beaches to visit, although it takes time to drive there!! The local village of Fougeres du Plessis supermarket was well stocked & the boulangerie by the church was great.
Altogether a fantastic holiday, great weather too. Will recommend to our friends & will definately return.
Thanks again Craig & Sue xx

The gite was lovely and clean and well maintained. The lake had plenty of fish in and is well looked after.
There is plenty to do in the area with lots of places to visit and a nice area to explore.
We are definitely hoping to return again.
