Saumur sits on the banks of the Loire river and is 20 minutes away. Wander round the chateau and then decide on lunch over a glass of chilled wine.
If you have an interest in history then this is one of the places to go. The resting place of Richard the Lionheart and Eleanor of Aquitaine in the amazing abbey, and a great bar and restaurant just outside the grounds called 'The Plantagenet'.
The most amazing gardens and a glorious chateau and, of course, plenty of options for lunch and possibly a small glass of wine!
