La Goderie is a gite complex made up of 3 cottages. The buildings are stone, with wooden beams and logburners for heating. Cool in the summer and cozy and warm in the winter. The gardens are landscaped with many places to play and are perfect for hide and seek with lots of separate areas!
The Farmhouse (sleeps up to 7 plus baby). The Farmhouse can be rented with the other cottages to accommodate up to 22 in total. We are very pleased to offer discounts for those parties including key workers, carers and veterans.
There are 2 heated pools, 1 indoor open all year and 1 outdoor which is open in the summer (dates by arrangement) and a jacuzzi hot tub. We have a mini golf course, badminton, table tennis and boules and space for riding bikes and just enjoying the sunshine (or snow)!
The kitchen has comprehensive facilities and dining options. The kitchen is separate to the other areas and includes a utility room.
Much dining at La Goderie happens outside with plenty of space for patio tables and chairs and a separate guest bbq area adjacent to the 'bar' in the garden.
Please see photos for more details, a picture speaks a thousand words!
The Farmhouse has a separate sitting room.
The Farmhouse has a master bedroom with king size bed and en suite, second bedroom with bunk beds and a third bedroom with twin beds. A comfortable futon can be set up in the second bedroom to add a third bed to the room.
The Farmhouse has an en suite with bath and shower over, family shower room with toilet and sink upstairs and toilet downstairs.
Heating is by logburner, and radiators run by the logburners and electric heating for the coldest months.
There is plenty to do at La Goderie with the pools, jacuzzi, mini golf, badminton, table tennis and boules plus we have a wide range of boardgames, books and dvds to enjoy.
Safe and secure, the gardens at La Goderie are pretty and enjoyable spaces where people can be as busy - or as relaxed - as they please.
There is plenty of parking available on site, behind gates, with a garage available for cars which must be under cover (by prior arrangement) and a shed for bikes.
There are a couple of steps up to each cottage and around the garden however, the pool (which has the most steps) is accessible via a second gate without steps. Most of the garden is lawn. There is plenty to do for all ages at La Goderie and so suitable for couples, families and large groups - please do get in touch with any specific requests or needs so that we can give you the information for you to make a decision.
We have had several guests with children with special needs who have commented on the suitability of the site for their families. We are rural, with no permanent neighbours (there is a small, rarely inhabited, holiday cottage next door) where children can run amok, and feel safe. Meltdowns are rare at La Goderie!
We are able to offer many extras which you might not find elsewhere - everything you'll need for babies and young children (including a babybath so those worried about the pool can splash alongside) highchairs, gates, toys, cots, potties etc. We are also proud to provide a comprehensive welcome basket for all of our guests to get you off to a good start when you arrive.
Please ask us if there is anything you need which hasn't been written about. We have supplied some very random things in the past and are more than happy to help out if we can. As La Goderie is also our family holiday home we usually have what you need.
La Goderie is a family owned and run property. Alastair and Michelle, with Michelle's parents, Mick and Barbara and the couple's children Alex (16) Eva (14) and Harry (12). We are foster carers so fully DBS checked. We live in the UK apart from some school holidays when we enjoy the French rural lifestyle with friends and family (and, of course, our guests). We are teachers, nurses, engineers and electricians and so not much phases us, we're laid back, welcoming and just happy to share our home.

|Why this location?||La Goderie is situated in the beautiful rural French countryside in Loire, just south of Normandy. 7kms from our nearest town, Gorron, with lots of local facilities and amenities including bars, restaurants and many shops. We are within 30 minutes drive of the major towns of Mayenne and Fougeres and an hour from Rennes with it's city like character and airport.
La Godierie is easily reached from the port at Caen, with the drive being around 2 hours through pretty villages.
Being a rural site there are many opportunities for walking and cycling and enjoying the countryside, especially the peace and quiet around the pool!
We enjoy the seasons as they should be with hot summers (and the odd 40 degree Easter) and snow in the winters with lovely Spring and Autumn days. We have swimming pools and logburners so La Goderie is absolutely perfect in any season - a true year round property.
|Unique benefits of property||When we were searching for our perfect French holiday home we never dreamed that we'd end up buying 3 cottages, 2 pools and an acre of landscaped gardens! There simply isn't another property like it - La Goderie is a real home from home and we try to keep it simultaneously relaxed and full of things to do.
Our cottages are built from a farmhouse and stone barn buildings and each has a unique character, whilst being full of rural charm. The cottages are linked, with each having it's own patio space for chairs and tables, making the property perfect for couples and small families to large groups. We have gates at each end of the property making it a safe and relaxing environment for those with small children and each pool is enclosed by lockable boundaries for peace of mind. We have a mini golf course, heated indoor and outdoor pools, a jacuzzi, table tennis, boules and badminton, fairies in their own garden, a resident crocodile and other characters adorn the garden. Perfect :-)
Around 40 minutes from La Goderie, La Ferte Mace has a beautiful man made lake with pedals boats, lawns, sand, bikes and a cafe. Like the beach, but cleaner and safer. Even in the height of the summer there is always somewhere to sit and relax knowing that everyone is having a wonderul times.
A real chocolate box scene, the town of Bagnoles de L'Orne is built around a large lake which is perfect for picnics and games whilst the town itself has many shops, bars and restaurants.
The world renowned chocolate shop is well worth a visit with models and toys created from chocolate (it's very clever, and tastes amazing)!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The outdoor pool especially was lovely. The house was very well catered for in that there was a washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washer which was very useful. All the rooms were a good size and a lot of thought had gone into leaving games etc for families to play.
The garden was beautiful with lovely trees and was set out in such a way that each house had privacy.
Kim, who oversaw everything, was extremely helpful and accommodating.
We took the children to a nearby adventure centre where there were a lot of outdoor facilities.
The local restaurants were good.
It was really good value for money and I would recommend staying here.
