Get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing holiday or a short break in the heart of the French countryside. Le Hutereau is a 400 year old farm and the old cow shed that has been converted into 3 holiday cottages; Sauvignon, Chenin and Muscadet. Two of the gîtes can sleep 6 people and one sleeps 3 or 4 people. In total we can accommodate 15 to 16 people in the 3 cottages, which is great for whole family holidays.
We live on site, in the old farm house and are always available to provide local knowledge and advice on where to go and what to visit. Our gîtes have free wi-fi and UK satellite tv and French channels. There is plenty of parking right outside the door. Barbecues, pool loungers and table tennis are all available in the old barn next to the pool.
Our heated swimming pool is open from May until October.
We are right in the heart of the Escape to the Château area, just 25 minutes from Château De La Motte Husson (Dick and Angel's Château) and 15 minutes from Château de la Basmaignée and Château du Bailleul.
Le Mont St Michel, Roman ruins at Jublain, Fougeres Chateau and the pretty medieval town of Vitré are all within easy reach.
Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are all provided.
Each gite has its own fully equipped kitchen. As well as plates, cutlery and cooking utensils, each has a gas cooker, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, toaster, coffee-machine and cafetiere.
Each gite has its own living area with sofas and chairs. A flat screen television (receiving UK Freesat and French tv) and a free wi-fi. Furthermore each gîte has its own logburner in the open-plan living area with electric heating available for use during the colder months.
A selection of boardgames and dvds are provided.
All the bedding is supplied and there is plenty of wardrobe space for all your clothes. A hairdryer is also provided.
There is 1 family bathroom in each gite with a bath and a shower. All bath towels are provided.
Each gite has a logburner and all the wood is provided.
There are also electric radiators.
Le Hutereau has extensive grounds for you to use for relaxing by the pool or for playing football by the fields. As well as a selection of balls and outdoor games there is a Wendy house, ping pong table and swings.
Each gite has its own patio area with table, chairs and a parasol.
There are barbecues for each gite and some in the barn next to the pool.
We have plenty of space for off road parking right by the gites.
We moved to France in 2015 to escape the frenetic pace of life in the UK and we found our little piece of paradise in the heart of the French countryside in Mayenne.
|Year property purchased||2015|
|Why this location?||Our location in Mayenne is ideal for us and also for our guests. It is not too far from the ferry ports or airports and is sandwiched between the cidre producers to the north and wine producers to the south. We are in fact, in a major cheese producing area.
Some days we can travel 20 kms before seeing another car on the road and we are surrounded by fields of cows, wheat and maize.
We have a major town (Fougères) just 20 kms away and an abundance of historic towns and villages to see.
|Unique benefits of property||The old cow shed has been converted into three cottages so larger groups can enjoy their holiday together, but have their own space as well. Two cottages each sleep 6 people and one sleeps 4.|
The Château de Fougères is in the town of Fougères just 20 kms away. It is the largest medieval fortress in Europe and well worth a visit.
While you are there you can take a guided tour of the town on the little train or sit by the cobbled streets and enjoy a coffee, crêpe or galette at the entrance to the Château.
