We moved to France in 2015 to escape the frenetic pace of life in the UK and we found our little piece of paradise in the heart of the French countryside in Mayenne.
|Year property purchased||2015|
|Why this location?||Our location in Mayenne is ideal for us and also for our guests. It is not too far from the ferry ports or airports and is sandwiched between the cidre producers to the north and wine producers to the south. We are in fact, in a major cheese producing area.
Some days we can travel 20 kms before seeing another car on the road and we are surrounded by fields of cows, wheat and maize.
We have a major town (Fougères) just 20 kms away and an abundance of historic towns and villages to see.
|Unique benefits of property||Come and spend your holiday in an old stone building with oodles of character and large oak beams. In the winter you can light the log burner and in the summer you can sit by the heated swimming pool.|
The Château de Fougères is in the town of Fougères just 20 kms away. It is the largest medieval fortress in Europe and well worth a visit.
While you are there you can take a guided tour of the town on the little train or sit by the cobbled streets and enjoy a coffee, crêpe or galette at the entrance to the Château.
