About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Amanda Smith

We decided to move to rural France in 2015 after taking early retirement and fell in love with the Mill House at first sight. The peaceful location and abundance of wildlife attracted us to live in the forgotten part of France. We hope you love it here as much as we do.

Year property purchased 2015
Why this location? We wanted to live in a rural location whilst being in easy distance of the Eurotunnel and ferries. This part of Mayenne is unspoilt and the empty roads are a joy to drive on. The coast with the D Day beaches and attractions such as Saint Malo and Mont Saint Michel are 90 minutes away - a good day trip for us to explore the coast of Normandy.
Unique benefits of property Mill House is a spacious family holiday home which stands in the grounds of what was once a large working farm. Today, it has retained its tranquility and picturesque setting overlooking a small lake and private swimming pool. There are 5 bedrooms sleeping up to 8 guests with a swimming pool. It is set in its own grounds with a fun fishing lake and 14 acres of woodland to walk.

The Owner Recommends

Le Mans

The one place not to miss is the fortified old Plantagenet cité of Le Mans. The beautiful flying-buttress cathedral and medieval houses in their cobbled streets are impressive at any time but especially so in the evenings of July and August when they are illuminated in the most magical display of light, colour and sound. The fortification wall is Roman and is the one of the best preserved examples in Europe. So see 1600 years of architecture come alive!

The spectacle is free but if you want to dine in the old town you are advised to book.

Mayenne

The town of Mayenne is well worth a visit and the newly restored château an absolute must... maybe lunch on a boat on the river?

If you like old French towns you will love Sainte-Suzanne, Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, Saint-Léonard-des-Bois, Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei and many more.
