As a child, my parents used to take my brothers and I to France every summer. It was during these impressionable years that I fell in love with the country, the history, language, culture, food and later - the wine! I always knew that one day I would live in France. I bought Le Petit Bois in 2007, having fallen for its 'wow' factor, the first time I saw it. I relocated to Paris with work and I lived at Le Petit Bois. It was a great life, and just as I had envisaged living in France would be.

|Why this location?||The property is on the edge of a little village in the Sarthe department, and is charming and typically French. The village has a bar, a boulangerie, a post office and a Sunday market. The property is set in 6 acres of enclosed private grounds, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful, with lakes, forests, rivers, but just 20 minutes from the bustling city of Le Mans. And just 55 minutes from Le Mans to Paris on the TGV means you can enjoy the peaceful countryside and the joys of the city. The beautiful chateaux and vinyards of the Loire are just over an hour away and well worth visiting.|
|Unique benefits of property||The rooms are all very large, giving space to all. The garden, orchard and grounds are extensive and private, with a beautiful sunny patio to the back.|
Perfect base to visit the area; including the towns of Le Mans, with its magnificent cathedral, medieval city and fantastic shops, Alencon and Laval with its hilltop fortress, the lake at Sille Le Guillaume with its beach and sailing facilities, the medieval village of Saint Suzanne, picturesque St Cenerie, Fresnay Sur Sarthe, or Solesmes Abbey, with its Gregorian chants and hymns.
Saint Symphorien is a small friendly village of approximately 500 inhabitants located 20 minutes from Le Mans, with a boulangerie, butchers with epicerie, tennis court, boules ground and a Sunday market, selling fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, fish, flowers and clothes. There is a good public open air swimming pool in Tennie, a neighbouring village, which is just 6km from the house. If you're looking for crowds and British people, you'll be hard pushed to find them here!
