We are a few hundred yards along on the right. Normal travel time from Ouistreham is 2 hrs 30 minutes. We are happy to provide a map, because the house is not actually in the village of Cré but closer to St Quentin les Beaurepaire.
The house is detached and set within a large garden overlooking ancient woodland, and is very very quiet, perfect to wind down and relax. There is plenty of parking for your cars and bikes available within our grounds, and if you are tired from the journey, we will happily pop to the local artisan boulangerie on your first morning, whilst you get your bearings, they make delicious bread and pain aux raisins
Just outside the main door is a private sunny terrace, perfect for breakfast, and later for dinner.

If you want to go further afield, there is a market somewhere everyday of the week. Of course the usual french supermarkets are here too.

The Cadre Noir in Saumur, with its displays of horsemanship is a wonderful spectacle, and also on a military note, the Tank museum has a large collection of machines from both conflicts. Car enthusiasts will want to visit Le Mans famous track, for the Motor, Truck and Moto GP's and maybe the 24hrs car museum near the track. There is so much more to Le Mans than racing however. Explore the ancient walled city of Le Mans, rich in Plantagenet history, & during July and August, the Nuits de Chimére, laser light show is played onto the Cathedral and Roman walls at nightfall, free to all, it is a wonderful spectacle. There are some very good restaurants in Le Mans, always wise to book ahead for the Nuits de Chimére.
If you would like to do a little touring in an easterly direction, we would love to share our fondness for the pretty town of la Chartré sur Loir, a visit to the Hotel de France is always on our wish list, known for its celebrity racing clientele, popular with 24hr fans and has a great restaurant too. We were early retirees, and decided to have an "adventure" after years of running a European transport company. However 2 years of relaxing became tedious, so we decided to convert an unused stable to a gite. We love food and wine, so cooking is on our list of passions, along with moto gp, cycling, walking and gardening.
|Year property purchased||2008|
|Why this location?||We wanted tranquility and peace, and we have it in abundance, with the bonus of large town amenities reachable in 6 minutes. Angers is 40 minutes away, Saumur and Tours a few minutes further.
