Our family of 5 (plus 2 grandparents for the second week) had a fantastic holiday at Le Puy Renou. We've visited the Vendeé a few times before and love the peace and quiet, the picturesque villages and the rivers and lakes. Le Puy Renou was very well equipped inside and out and was tidy and clean when we arrived. We loved the huge garden and the views over the countryside. The nearest town with supermarkets and a swimming pool is only 15mins drive away with a boulangerie and restaurants even closer. Highly recommended!
This was our second visit to this beautiful farmhouse because we loved it so much the first time. The house is situated in a quiet rural spot with lovely views of the surrounding country side. There are extensive grounds with outbuildings. The garden had fruit trees and bushes dotted around and we were able to pick cherries and currants. My favourite spot was at the top of the sloping rear garden where there were two wooden chairs and table where I would sit to read.
The interior of the property had large rooms. The kitchen was well kitted out with everything you would need and a lovely large table, that would seat 8, in the middle, with French doors opening out to the front garden. The sitting room had lots of comfortable seating with three sofas and two arm chairs. The TV had satellite with English channels. The bedrooms were large with comfortable beds.
Although we were three adults, myself, husband and adult son, the property caters well for children. There is a children's bedroom with three beds and a cot, toys, TV with children's videos and in the barn next to the house lots of outdoor toys. I think had my son been young he would have loved the facilities provided.
Although the property is set in a peaceful rural setting it is within fairly easy distance of lots of attractions, Le Puy Du Fou theme park, zoos, chateaux, the coast, aquariums etc.
The owners were very friendly and provided good customer service.
I would recommend this property without hesitation.
This farmhouse was absolutely wonderful! We stayed for one week in August 2014 with our 3 children who were then 20, 16 and 11. It’s a fairly remote location so it’s peaceful and enchanting. The first thing that struck us was that the property, both outside and in, looked exactly as it did in the photos and that is quite rare! In fact, when we first arrived we didn't think we were at the right place as it just looked too good to be true. There are large, spacious rooms throughout the property; large, comfortable sofas in the living room for the whole family to relax; lovely big kitchen table where we enjoyed homemade family meals each day - and a rare family game of monopoly one evening! With 5 of us there it was great to have an en suite bathroom off our bedroom, even if we did have to share it with the kids once or twice! The garden is pretty large, with a barn. On arrival the wifi wasn't working, much to the annoyance of our two eldest, but this was actually really helpful as the kids ended up exploring the barn where they found a badminton net, rackets, etc, which they immediately set up in the front garden and we played every day - even when the wifi was back on! The views were wonderful. The farmhouse is situated in quiet countryside and we enjoyed early morning runs and walks with no traffic around most days. This is a perfect holiday home and we would love to stay here again. The owner was very helpful, as was the French neighbour who helped whenever needed.
We've just returned from Le Puy Renou and a fabulous holiday. The farm house is beautiful, well equipped, clean and ideally located for touring this area of France. The accommodation is very spacious with a huge kitchen, living room and bedrooms that would easily accommodate 8 people.
We went to Le Tranche Sur Mer one day, La Rochelle another and spent lovely days in Mervent forest and rivers and also Vouvant.
We were lucky enough to be allowed to take our dogs who loved the extensive grounds at the farm house and enjoyed the walks in such a beautiful area.
The ferry times were a little testing as we opted for the 08.15 out returning n the 08.30 from Caen to Portsmouth which meant leaving to return at 03.00, as we had the dogs to check in which was really easy. The vet we found in L'Absie was very helpful for the return tapeworm treatment and passport stamp for the dogs.
As we opted for the early ferries and on Saturday we did take some supplies for our first evening although we could have stopped en route.
Our return journey was interesting as the sat nav took us the scenic route through rural France but we still had plenty of time to make the ferry.
We will hopefully be booking this beautiful house again next year, many thanks to Bob the owner for his excellent service and allowing us to take the dogs, this made such a difference to our holiday.
