Previous Guest Reviews

"Marvellous - Has everything you could possibly want. Lots for children of all ages to do in the games room, pool and bikes. Our ages ranged from 70 to 2 and we all enjoyed the facilities. Near by is a beach and activities at the lake at Apremont. Parc des Dunes at Bretignolles, and seeing trebuchet firing at Chateau Tiffauges are also good fun for younger children."

"A great place to stay - We really enjoyed our stay here, it is a well situated country cottage in a very rural setting in the small hamlet of La Blanchere. Very well equipped Cottage. Table Tennis, Table Soccer, Darts, small pool actually larger than the photos depict. Various sized bikes for countryside cycle rides. Lovely beaches approximately 30 minutes drive. Comfortable beds, we slept very well for our entire stay. Nice family lounge/kitchen area for relaxation in the evening. Plenty of outdoor seating & 2 BBQ's for relaxing in the sunshine. Great communication with the owner, who is very helpful & friendly, rang us after a couple of days to check we were all ok & settled in. We would highly recommend this Cottage for Families or people looking for total relaxation. In conclusion; we had a fantastic time and may well return! We advise visiting the Puy de Fou theme park for a great day out and also Planete Sauvage which is a great safari park with an incredible dolphin show."

We had a lovely week in this comfortable house in peaceful countryside. Apart from birdsong and some tractor noises it was extremely quiet. Being someone's second home and not just a rental property the house has everything you could want, even good beds. The pool is small but delightful and there are pleasant views over fields towards a small lake. The owner is very friendly and helpful. No butcher or greengrocer in the nearest village (rather unexpected in France) but there are at least two good bakers and the supermarket is very nearby, though for fresh produce local markets are a better bet. There's plenty to do if you can tear yourself away from the house and pool; we particularly loved the bird reserve at Cité des Oiseaux, Les Landes-Génusson.

Owner response

Thank you so glad you enjoyed our house, we love it too just wish we could be there more often!

We stayed in La Blanchere for a week in June.
The farmhouse was very French with beautiful views from the bedroom windows.
The accommodation was spacious and again very French. The bedrooms were
attractive, newly decorated and clean. the downstairs rooms were comfortable and
again spacious. The kitchen area had everything you need, very well equipped.
the owner was very hands on and called to see if we were happy.
There is a games room with table tennis and other family games. Plenty of deck chairs and
bikes and a beautiful, sparkling swimming pool which unfortunately we didn't get to use owing
to the weather.
The actual village is a short drive and has a very good restaurant in the park area. Very friendly, not always open every night so check and book as its quite busy.
A visit to La Rochelle is a must.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to people who want a restful holiday.

Owner response

So glad you enjoyed La Blanchere, even seeing a hoopoe from the bedroom window.
Sorry the weather wasn't up to standard.

Reasonably basic accommodation but with many bonus features, lots of bikes, swimming pool, table tennis, table football and darts which kept our 4 teenagers happy. The owner billed it as a relaxed family house, not perfect but with everything you needed and I agree with that. Handy E.Leclerc supermarket very close by.

Good location with lots of interesting things to visit within 45-60 mins by car. We loved Puy de Fou Cinescenie, Sables-D'Olonne and Le Grand Delfi which has over 20 tree top trails. We also liked the Historical Museum of the Vendee and Logis de la Chabotterie, both really modern interactive learning about the history of the Vendee and one of the key characters of the 1793 revolt. The house is also close to one of the main Vendee cycle routes which follows the line of an old railway and goes from Aizenay to Coex. The forest at Aizenay is good for walking too and again very close, 10 minutes by car.

Owner response

Indeed everything is not brand new, (apart from all the beds and the TV), but we treat La Blanchere as a home and reflect this is in the price. Felicity
